My little girl who's in kindergarten wants to bring her Book of Mormon to Show and Tell. This wouldn't usually be a problem, except... A. She goes to a Catholic school. B. This is smallish-town Utah. C. The people are not just semi-Catholic, but very Catholic. What do you think? (So far I haven't let h...

Back a few years ago, there was a character portrayed by the late Gilda Radner named "Emily Litella". She had a hearing problem, was dressed somewhat like a frumpy old woman and generally made a mountain out of a non-existant molehill. After discovering her error, she would smile and say &...

I don't know if we've talked about this or not. I know there was a thread a long ways back about Baby Einstein. We got the first two seasons of The Muppet Show for Christmas. The particular episode that is on right now has Bert and Ernie guest starring. My teenage daughter turned to me and said, "Did y...

As I was driving this morning, a range of mountains was in front of me. I've seen this range from this road-view thousands of times. I think mountains in general are beautiful but today something was different. They were breath-taking! As I stared at them I realized it was the light. The light was...

Cat Herder has unceremoniously reached 4000 posts. He is unsuccessfully trying to keep up with Ray, (because Ray is approaching 5000 posts). So what does he win Vanna? Or Johnny, or Pat or Drew or whoever...

Tonight my 90-year-old grandmother married a 92-year-old widower who she's known for several years. They've both been without their eternal companions for a long time and they very much enjoy each others' company, so they jumped in with both feet. It was a nice ceremony in the Relief Society room. H...

Sees chocolate, $1, and free shipping. From the descriptions it's either a pound or 3; either way it's a screaming deal. All because it's in a Christmas box! http://www.sees.com/Prod.cfm?CatGroup=00050201

Did you know December 15 is known as Cat Herders Day? I learned about this today in the Kids Post section of our newspaper, in which they were listing various wacky holidays! http://www.wellcat.com/winter.htm

Nowadays we see people marrying outside their religion and it's really no big deal. Marrying someone of another race? No biggie. Even another country or entirely different culture? Yeah, it's doable. There's even those who marry outside their generation - it's all cool. But what about marry...

May Heavenly Father grant that 2008 will be a year of great blessings for each of you. May you have sufficient to eat, a roof over your head and the blessings of liberty and joy in your life and family. God bless!

So, MrCoco was in the alumni swim meet last Friday. It's where the high school varsity team goes up against whatever alumni shows up - just for fun and seeing your old buddies... potluck, you get the idea. MrCoco still holds the 100 fly record (he graduated in '86). They had a 50 fly with about 3 highsc...

So I walk into my room where the 2 year old is napping intent on gathering laundry to wash, and I'm assaulted by a strong bad odor. My first thought is, "Oh, no! So... got any goals for 2008? Do you want to learn a new skill or improve yourself in some way? Do you want to be better a year from now than you are now? (Are you better now than you were a year ago?)

Hiccups has fallen prey to the dreadful "Retail Christmas Song Overload." My proposed therapy is to introduce her to never-before-heard Christmas songs. Just out of curiosity, who else knows this song?

(I hate that song with a white hot passion.) The stomach flu has hit my house. Hooray. I'm praying that it passes before Christmas. Of course, if I have it on Sunday, I won't have to deal with choir drama at all.
