Clearplay DVD players

Has anyone here purchased a clearplay DVD player (filters out bad stuff from DVDs)? We bought one for Christmas, and I have been regretting it since. Before relating my experiences, let me stress that I am a computer professional, trained in troubleshooting, and I have even performed very complicated DVD setups in the past which stumped others.
My experience setting up the clearplay DVD player has been a pain. First, the instructions are inadequate, and there was a lot that I had to figure out on my own. Second, their software does not like my computer and still doesn't work correctly. Third, the remote doesn't always work. Fourth, adding filters is a royal pain in the keister. Fifth, the filtering doesn't always work, and there have been a few moments where I have been hit by unexpected profanity.
I even ended up calling their tech support once. They called me back (they were really busy right after Christmas, and I don't fault them for that). But they called me back to put me on hold for ten minutes. I don't know how long I would have waited on hold, because I just hung up and figured it out myself.
I can only conclude that many parts of my experience are atypical, because if every buyer went through what I have, there is no way that they would stay in business.

So... it's some sort of filter for movies? Why would you want that? How do you know it's gonna filter what you want filtered? Does it give you a *beep* for bad words? Do they still mouth the words? Does it make nekkidness fuzzy or just skip parts of the movies? Does it make bloody battles not so bloody?

Cool! It sounds like BYU Varsity Theatre in a box!

For the uninformed amongst you, you can find out more at www.clearplay.com.

And to answer Coco's question, it blanks out bad words, and just skips scenes with bad stuff. It'll go a bit fuzzy sometimes as it skips moments, but I don't know if that's a feature or a bug.

My brother, sister, and I all bought them at the same time about 3 years ago. When they work they do a great job. You can set them nearly infinite ways to filter the movies you rent. The subscription was very reasonable for what you got. My brother in law is an airline pilot and brought them back from Utah for us. The problem was that they had a lot of software updates and the info for doing the update was often incomplete. So Friday night rolls around and you are trying to install the updated software and it's not working. But their tech support went home at 5pm Mountain Standard Time so you have movies rented and no way to watch them. We got fed up and eventually gave up after a few months of going through the hassle. It seems like every month there would be at least one operating software update for the thing and you would have to get tech support to help you out and supply information not in the instructions. We all still have the players but don't use them anymore because it was an ordeal to use them. We let the subscription expire. Unless something has changed Arb, I'd take the thing back.

Never heard of one. We got a new DVD player for Christmas, but it obviously wasn't "clear."
