Advice from nonagenarian newlyweds.

Tonight my 90-year-old grandmother married a 92-year-old widower who she's known for several years. They've both been without their eternal companions for a long time and they very much enjoy each others' company, so they jumped in with both feet. It was a nice ceremony in the Relief Society room.

He recited a wonderful poem that he wrote. It ended, ". . . and find a lady, willing and bold, who doesn't think that 90's too old." He found her, and they seem very happy.

My favorite meaningful moment was when they got up to do their short, but sweet ceremony. They both struggled a bit to get up. He held on to my grandma and helped her up with what strength he had left, and he said,

"You hold me up, and I'll hold you up."

Good advice for any married couple.

That is sweet, congratulations to them! Several years ago we had a nice wedding at the nursing home for a couple who had been married for decades but had never had a fancy wedding, ie she hadn't had a wedding dress, etc.

Hope your grandma and her new husband will have a happy life!! And I like his poetry, very cool!

I knew a 80++ year old that fell in love with his beautiful 20 something dance instructor. Crazy enough, she fell in love with him too and they decided to get married.

Of course his kids were a little upset and concerned that perhaps she was just a money digger. One of the kids suggested that he get a physical to make certain that he could handle it.

He complied but the tests all OK'd him for the marriage.

Finally one of the daughters just came out and said it... "But dad you know that sex for an 80 year old could be dangerous and even life threatening.

To that he responded, "Well honey, if she dies, she dies."

Hilarious!! Love it! I can't wait to tell my Daddy that one . . . just as soon as he gets home from the temple.

The local paper did a story on them today. The story isn't available online, but a picture is:

My hats off to them. My only goal at that age is to sit on the porch and shoot at sales people.

Jason, are the old codgers in Secondhand Lions your role models?
