So... got any goals for 2008? Do you want to learn a new skill or improve yourself in some way? Do you want to be better a year from now than you are now? (Are you better now than you were a year ago?)

I don't believe in New Year's Resolutions, actually -- if you need to make a change, NOW is the time to do it, not some excuse for putting it off until the beginning of the year and letting it die when that resolution is 'broken'. That being said, I AM buying a treadmill in January. I would get it now, but for financial reasons we can't get it until next year.
*putter* *ponder* OK, fine, you got me thinking of some things I need to be better at. There. Are you happy? Now I feel bad about myself. ;b
My #1 goal for 2008 is to stay alive for my kids and hubby, without major intervention in my stress levels that will not be possible. This is the first step.
My #2 goal is to get rid of the mouse that has taken up residence in the wall of my bedroom... he is very good at stealing bait out of 4 kinds of traps so far... I feel like "Tom" [cat] in those cartoons from my childhood... this dumb mouse is smart...!!! But, I'll get him...
It looks like both Ray and I have voted... I'm too tired at present to come up with the wise remark.

Dang, Coco! There were three great things I'd wanted to choose... The one about next year, the one about cramping my style, and of course the last one, cuz I get to vote for your love of profane words! In the end I had to choose that one.
Hey Coco, how about next year you try to eliminate all those bad words from your vocabulary? There's a fine goal!! OH wait... we're supposed to set new years goals for ourselves and not for others?! Drat!

That's it Ray... Our New Year's Resolution is to help Coco with her potty fingers.
Coco: Was that wise-hiney enough for you?

I don't usually make New Year's resolutions, but my goal at the moment is to try to find a way to keep my 2 1/2 year old clothed, seeing as she just came down the stairs nekkid' again.
Potty fingers? That sounds like what my 2 yr old gets when he reaches in his diaper. Eewww.
Poncho: Duct tape

No, potty fingers is when you post words you shouldn't have. But yeah, I see your point.
And hey, Val could tell us about potty toes!
Sorry Val. I imagine he's still not laughing about it yet.

Here's my potty finger for ya. Use yer imagination.
Seriously, I'm going to have a great garden this year and "put up" more food - learn to bottle more things with my great VT comp and two sisters that I think we'll all get into helping each other. I bought a canner a couple months ago when they were on sale.
I'm also going to read the Standard Works (minus OT).
I might also learn to make cheese.

I have major things happening in my life this year, which I will be working towards. The biggest will be choosing my medical specialty and applying for residencies. I will not find out to where I have matched until March of 2009, but most everything will be set by then. To accomplish that I need to do well in my current rotations, get letters of recommendations from attending doctors, write my personal statement, find out which programs I want to apply to, apply, interview, then wait. I will also take step 2 of the national medical licensing exam. (there are three steps).
That is huge, because where I go for my residency will likely be where I live out the rest of my life. I also need to choose the speciality. I am 29 years old and will finally be choosing my exact career. There will be time no longer. I cannot be a student with unlimited options forever.
I would also like to date someone and get married, but that is not a goal that I can accomplish on my own. It takes the agency of another.
