Nevermind . . .

Back a few years ago, there was a character portrayed by the late Gilda Radner named "Emily Litella". She had a hearing problem, was dressed somewhat like a frumpy old woman and generally made a mountain out of a non-existant molehill.

After discovering her error, she would smile and say "Nevermind" and go on to the next faux pas as if nothing had ever occured.

Well meaning and well acting, in Emily's case, certainly never went hand in hand as she struggled through a variety of topics that kept her wondering until the misheard and most certainly misunderstood moments of her life were explained to her satisfaction.

Then, in true Emily Litella fashion, she could dismiss them and move on with her life, unimpeded by the truth that burdened so much of the world around her.

Mad TV gets pretty raunchy... though the bit they had about online dating, "Lowered Expectations" was very funny.

Miss Swan, "Heeeee looka like a man"!

Love Miss Swan and I also liked Gilda Radner's characters, but my favorite was Baba Wawa.

I've always detested violins on television.

Belle, I think I would like to see the Emily persona!

I am a huge fan of keeping up Appearances with Hyancinth Bucket(better say Bouquet)

Wul, what's all this do to about Youth in Asia?

Why are they so special?

What about youth in South America, or Africa or Europre or Australia or Greenland or the Pacific Islands?

What makes little Koreans and Chinese and Japanese kids so special?

Everybody just keeps going on and on about Youth in Asia. I just don't get it?

BUT Emily, they're talking about mercy killing...you know Euthenasia.

Oh,

NEVERMIND!

gottat love that Emily!!

and I too enjoy the rantings and antics of Hyacinth Bucket and her total unwillingness to accept that she isn't now and won't ever be considered high society!!

y'all watch "Are You Being Served" as well?

Benny Hill is funny, but also can be quite crude at times. Monty Python's Flying Circus is also a fave around here.

Yes, I've watched a lot of "Are you Being Served." It has an interesting cast including a blue haired woman.

Was Double really quoting Emily? That one comedian must have borrowed her line(Sasha) when he was playing that wannabee street guy. I can't forget the characters name but I think it is different from his movie Borat.

yep, Double D was quoting a direct line from a show that Gilda as Emily did opposite Chevy Chase and Jane Curtain as I recall. It was a hilarious bit.

Love the blue haired Mrs. Slocumb. Her hair is like cotton candy and the hue changes with every show.

And the way they answer the phone is great! When Mr. Humphries answers in that psuedo deep voice of his, it just cracks me up!

Who would you most resemble if you were a character from "Red Dwarf" or "Are You Being Served?"
