You know, it almost sounds like some far away people talking about some faraway place... we don't talk like that anymore. We don't live like that anymore.

Kinda like in "National Treasure" when Cage's character starts speaking passionately about truth and justice and his partner says, "Nobody talks like that anymore."  He replied with, "Yeah, but they think it."

I still think that way.

I was wondering if someone would remember that from National Treasure. biggrin.gif

Yes, roper, some of us still do think that way.

About half of the founding fathers mention "God" rather than specifically "Jesus Christ."

I guess my question would be "And?"

I mean, sure many of the founders were Christian, as is much of the current populace.

Does that mean that every town square should contain a nativity scene? That only Christians should be elected to office? That school should perform daily Christian prayer?

I frankly don't want either of those last two things to happen, and couldn't really care less about the first.

America, no matter what its founders believed, will NOT be a Christian nation until its people live the way they are supposed to live. No protestations or laws to the contrary can enforce Christianity, nor will they will cure the problems of a populace dedicated to conspicuous consumption and the pursuit of worldy pleasures.

In short, we should forget about the whole "this is a Christian Nation" thing and start living as true Christians, and treating our neighbors accordingly.
