So, I got roped into taking the 7 Habits class at work. In the introduction (for those who haven't read the book or taken the class), it discusses principles and values--the definition and difference. There's about 7 of us in the class and while discussing principles, I piped up with some scriptur...

Seriously. A couple weeks back we had 3 lessons in a row that I lost time and the children's attention because of words in the scriptures that made them all silent and/or giggly. I teach the 11 yr olds and we're doing the BoM this year. The troublesome words have been "dumb ass," "damn,&...

This was a great article. I was really interested to see the second witness confirming things in calling the stake presidencies. I've had similar experiences with my current calling. I'm going to have to read this whole book. Hearing the Voice of the Lord by Elder Gerald N. Lund Editor's note: This is...

There's an interesting article over at Meridian Magazine about pornographic marketing that suggests that maybe we ought to not shop at or wear clothing from places that use explicit marketing. http://www.ldsmag.com/ideas/080418apparel.html The big example sited is Abercrombie & Fitch...

I heard a story on the radio this morning of a woman who found a diamond ring - a big one - and it was worth - I can't remember - but I think well into the 5 figures. She found it in a box on the road. I don't recall where either. But she came on with her thick Southern accent and said something like, "Oh, i...

So what do you know about this? I'm thinking more along the lines of the United Order. Honestly it's not something I think about a lot. But, I've heard some people recently talk about living the United Order (in a hypothetical sense) and it sounds as if they believe that everyone will share everythi...

Our stake president made some odd challenges to us the other Sunday, to reduce our electricity consumption by half and to eliminate all fats from our diets, including plant. I guess he is wanting us to follow a WoW diet as he sees it from D&C 89. I guess for breakfast he is eating wheat kernels boil...

In the midst of much of my turbulence of soul and frustration, I had something spiritually reasuring, strengthening happen and this passage of scripture came to mind. I have always loved this, "be still and know that I am God." Have to trust Him, there is little we can change, He is in char...

It was a last-minute deal. Neat experience, though. It's been 8 or 9 years since I had the chance. They have you wear whites now (scrubs or shirt/pants), which is different from last time. I got to see the mens' dressing rooms. :) It is a priviledge to clean the Lord's house. I had some neat thoughts and fe...

So back in December some issues had come to a head with mean choir director lady. I tried to stick up for myself and told her I wouldn't stand for being humiliated and treated badly anymore. She improved for about a month, and started slipping right back into it. As it turns out, she went to the bishop and c...

There's a lot about the Holy Ghost that interests me and I don't think I understand. Does the Holy Ghost experience a fulness of joy?

He's aged so much in a short time. His voice isn't as strong and sounds somewhat labored.

Pres. Monson said that, out of all the conferences he has attended, this one seemed the most special to him. Obviously he's not prophet and would experience something different. But did this conference seem special or out of the ordinary to you in some way? Maybe it's just because it's the most recent...

Hopefully I can say this so that it doesn't sound trite, but it seems to me that Pres. Monson's sense of humor has improved since he became prophet. He had a great sense of humor before, but he had me in stitches several times this conference.

The Brother of Jared and his group fled the tower of Babel at the time of the confusion of tongues. So why are there Hebrew proper names such as Levi, Ephraim, and Heth mentioned in Ether? These are names that are mentioned in the Bible long after the time of Babel but existing in the old world. Did the...

This is the mouse that's turning the little wheel in my head today. Yesterday in Family Relations class, we had a sub.
