I love Elder Holland. Can I say it again? I love Elder Holland. His testimony was so powerful and full of the Spirit that I got goosebumps. What an inspiring talk. And I loved the talk by Elder Hilbig (?...whatever). So impressed with the 2 sessions today. What will I do tomorrow? I'm having in...

Food for thought from Meridian I have been deceived about many things in my life; I have believed in lots of myths and false traditions, and false member teachings taught as doctrine. Nothing can mar my ability to trust God more than being deceived about His character, His doctrine, and what He expect...

Sometimes when life is really crappy, the concept of God's grace is tough to understand. I think it's cuz you wonder why if God gave this great gift, why life can't be less crappy. --Ray

Pride Something Janey wrote in the pride thread struck me in an interesting way. I appreciate what she wrote and how she phrased it. So from the pride thread, how do you differentiate pride vs. sincere support for others coupled with a sincere question of "what about me?" Is it ever right or...

President Ezra Taft Benson defined pride:Pride is a very misunderstood sin. . . .Most of us think of pride as self-centeredness, conceit, boastfulness, arrogance, or haughtiness. All of these are elements of the sin, but the heart, or core, is still missing. The central feature of pride is enmity t...

Just wondering if anyone listens to Christian radio? I never really have, but in the last couple of months I have, in fact a lot. Some is cheesy or not quite doctrinal, but no foul-mouthed djs, no immoral speech. The two DJs on what I listen to are pleasant, not really corny or over the top. Frequent mu...

With conference so close, what are your predictions for what they'll talk about? My wild, baseless predictions: We'll all be asked to live the United Order. Roper will be named 2nd counselor in the first presidency. They'll add the book of Lehi to the Book of Mormon.

I was listening to the Radio, and there was a guest talking about his new book about problems with children these days... and the hypersensitive helicopter parents who are like lawyers for their children when there's trouble at school, and he stated that he was worried about how parents these days do...

Okay, the Book of Job happens to be one of my most favoritist books of scripture. I was thinking the other day about the powers that are exhibited in the first part of the story. Specifically the "fire of God is fallen from heaven" (Job 1:16) and the "great wind from the wilderness&qu...

I've been reading in the Doctrine and Covenants. The Lord seems to be pretty repetative in his injunctive that we cease "excessive" laughter. That we rid ourselves of all "light mindedness", and this got me thinking. Is all laughter bad? When does it become wrong? And is there...

Does anyone know how to transfer records for Scouts from one council in another state to his current council in Utah? I got a note from his old Scoutmaster in Idaho saying all the stuff he'd passed off, but no dates etc. And because of a broken family situation, it was difficult to even get that much.

In addition to being the financial clerk, I have the opportunity of teaching the 12-13 year old Sunday school class. All this talk of broken covenants and how members should react, leads me to wonder... When you enter the baptismal covenant, do you also make a sort of unstated covenant with your fellow members to provide support and to strengthen each other, etc? I ask this in all seriousness. I have been trying to figure this out. There has been some talk on here and at that other forum about how one reacts to someone who leaves the Church. I know, Church is for learning and worship. It's not a social affair. And, I'd like to think that I'm "above" caring about such things, but I've realized that I do care. I was going to a playgroup every week. I stopped hearing about it. I asked someone, she said they weren't meeting anymore. I...
