Christian Radio

Just wondering if anyone listens to Christian radio?

I never really have, but in the last couple of months I have, in fact a lot.  Some is cheesy or not quite doctrinal, but no foul-mouthed djs, no immoral speech.  The two DJs on what I listen to are pleasant, not really corny or over the top.  Frequent music, and a lot is pretty good.

I have found it more uplifting, especially going to work.  I think it is also helping my inner being.

Can't really stand the "Christian music", but when I used to drive a thousand miles a week as part of my job, there were times when all I could get on the radio was the Christian stations. There was one on-the-air preacher who was actually very interesting to listen to. He used to "liken" the New Testament really well. Don't know what his name was.

There's a station I listen to for the preaching sometimes. It's quite good, actually - this guy has a lot of history background. Anyway, switch it off when the music comes... peace.gif

We have the radio alarm set to Christian radio, it works well. Not interested in doctrine or insulting lyrics that early in the morning.

I've found 95% of Christian songs are pretty much all the same thing with different tunes. It's all about Christ and not much else. It seems there are only so many ways you can talk about being saved by grace, but there's a constant stream of new ways every month. One guy is floating in a sea of Jesus' love, one guy lives/eats/breathes Christ, the next guy wants nothing more than to praise Him all his days, it goes on and on and on. Recurring themes of immersing one in Christ, not being worthy, and happiness only through following Him.

The other 5% are actually quite spiritually uplifting and wonderful. I also like energetic black baptist praise songs more than MoTab.

Hey Val, you listening to Spirit 105.3?

I enjoy listening to them... Some of the songs are too much a part of a worship service for my tastes, but off and on they have some really good songs. I try to keep notes on the ones that are the most uplifting and I purchase them for my personal library.

It is a local Kansas City station from a Bible College, Calvary 88.5

A lot of the songs are as loudmouth describes, and frankly, my preference is hard rock, Metallica, Crue, Poison, KISS, etc. The problem is the lyrics and music. I love the darker lyrics and music of Metallica and I do listen to some. I have found that as I try to move closer to Lord and the peace that the Spirit brings, much of the music starts forcing that light out. I don't want that, I want to know more of the goodness of the Lord.

I have begun experiencing more profound spiritual changes as of late. I love listening to music and most stations just aren't that great, though I do listen to others, but I get more of a positive boost. I have just found it to be a help for me, plus I don't have a CD player in my car.

The Lord has said music can be a prayer.

The Christian radio stations around here enjoy bashing Mormons and promulgating false doctrines. The music is pretty lame, too.

David Lee Roth is the only Van Halen worth listening to.

I listen to Christian radio a lot while I'm driving.  I like most of the music. I even enjoy the sermons--I usually learn something new from them.  In the DFW area I can get eight dedicated Christian stations, and that's just FM.  Probably twice that many on AM.

I know a lot of folks that think I'm crazy for listening to it... but it just makes me happy to know that Christ is working his work in the hearts of so many everywhere... not just those under the direct influence of the restored church...

I think ray's semi-crazy, but it has nothing to do with Christian radio.

HERESY!!!!!  CALL THE INQUISITORS!!!

David Lee Roth is way over rated.  Sammy Hagar was a much better vocalist.

You've been watching way too much of the "Livin In Paradise" video.

I don't know if it's the heart shaped guitar, the inside half moon kick, the cartwheel with no hands, or the huge surfboard at the end that does it for me.

I listen to Christian music on occasion but not normally the preaching. There are some good messages and the music is more contemporary making it more palatable for me. There are a couple of stations to choose from around here.

I think there's something sort of ... strange ... when one tries to put the message of the gospel into the music of the world. But then again, Christian music isn't my thang. wink.gif

I used to feel that way. Though honestly now I figure, people are gonna listen to worldly music, anyhow, so why not use it to convey wholesome uplifting and christian ideals?

Kinda like how the early christian church assimilated early cultures by changing pagan holidays into christian ones... :)

Isn't all music of the world?  Or are you saying that Christ's message should only be sung by the MoTab?

Dude. The MoTab is of the world. My nephew's ex-wife's mom is in the MoTab and buys a lot of Avon from one of the cameraman's wife so she gets on TV more.

I don't think all music is "of the world" ... I just mean when they try to be "modern" or use the "latest" rhythms and styles... I have no idea what I'm talking about, really. Cuz I have that Joseph Smith Nashville tribute CD and I totally dig that. So, just ignore me please. wink.gif
