When fruit such as peaches, pears, apricots, and apples are canned, do they lose their nutrition value? I am also concerned about the amount of sugar used in the canning process, either in home canning or at a Church cannery. Anybody have insight into this?

Some Swedish inventor came up with bags for composting human waste. If he does manage to sell them for 2 or 3 cents a bag, you could easily get a year's supply of these things for when things collapse.If he does start selling them this summer, and you can buy them in the US, I will buy some.

Eight weeks ago today I received my shipment of chicks: 4 laying hens, 8 meat birds, and 6 extra male chicks to keep the rest warm. Last Saturday morning I butchered the first meat bird, and this morning I butchered the last. What a learning experience! And yummy too.
