Non food preparedness

Cocobeem · Cocobeem

The PREPAREDNESS issue continues to be on my mind pretty strongly lately... I was wondering what *skills* everyone thinks might be helpful in a doomsday scenario...? Now, if the whole doomsday scenario isn't something you like thinking about, that's fine... this probably won't be of much inter...

Maybe the "Non-food Prep" forum isn't the best place for this thread. So if not, dear moderator, please move it to a more appropriate place. I've been thinking that one of the best ways to be prepared for a disaster, where physical and emotional demands will take a huge toll on us, is to be healt...

I would like to have a back-up heat source, but don't really know what is optimal, as relating to costs and practicality. Wood burning stove comes to my mind first. Something medium to smallish that could double as a cooking surface seems like a good idea. Perceived limitations would be that it wo...

How many here include firearms as part of their preparations and their 72 hour kits, whether for hunting and/or self-defense? Do you believe they are a valid part? I know my branch president thinks I go a bit too far, but my past experience with criminal clients and what I have seen of human nature, espe...

How many are really prepared as regards water? I was at church one night when home making was going on (I am not politically correct, I try not to say enrichment), and it was on 72 hour kits. Not one person, but my family, had any sort of water purification. Maybe a couple had those iodine tablets, but most...

Hey, I have a question... What do you do to get bath towels and dish towels to lose the stink they typically get? We wash them and dry them like the rest of the laundry, but get them wet again, and it is as smelly as if they had been wet and mildewy for a month... It is really disgusting and anno...

What kinds of problems do you envision befalling people who are in debt and don't get out of debt? Obviously, one problem that happens right away is a certain loss of freedom and choice in what to do with the money they earn--a certain amount has to go to creditors. That, in turn, limits what the...
