Important survival technique

http://www.wikihow.com/Survive-an-Encounter-with-Crocodile-or-Alligator

This should help all of you... especially if you live on the coast of the Gulf or in Florida and swampy areas of Georgia... or in australia...

Since I'm sort of a bottom-line person, this pretty much sums it up for me-

#3 Stay at least 15 feet away from alligators or crocodiles.

Thanks, ray. You're so awesomely helpful. I mean, your insights are BLINDING me.

What if you want to eat the gator? Can't do that from 15 feet away.

Haven't tried eating live, squirming gator before. Only had gator nuggets. Once, in Indiana.

My weapon of choice would be a spear.

A spear? How about a Weatherby 300 mag?

The 300 mag is way too loud and what if I wanted to eat another one?

I think the bad stuff was created to torment man.

I figure you could eliminate the threat and make the gator nuggets all in one shot.

Many years ago when I lived in Idaho, a friend and I went to sight in our rifles for elk season. I had my dad's old .308 with open sights, and my friend had his Weatherby with a nice scope. After four or five shots, we had the rifles sighted in and he asked if I wanted to trade. (He was rubbing his shoulder at that point--shoulda been a clue.)

I was totally unprepared for the recoil. I still have a faint half-moon scar over my right eyebrow.

That's priceless Roper!

I knew a guy that had a 458 Win Mag.  He worked his own loads so they didn't kick him so hard.  One day when he was at the range he accidentally got a full power factory round in the mix and fired it off.  The gun came up and the scope nailed him around the eye socket.  He was pretty dazed and looked over at the guy on the bench next to him at the range.  The guy did a double take, grabbed his stuff, and left.  It was only then that he realized that his face was covered in blood as he came out of the daze!

I guess your scar could have been worse Roper.  I read in a hunting magazine a couple months back of a guy that was long range hunting with a 50 cal and got nailed.  They had to sew part of his cheek back on!

Hunting with a 50 cal?  There's a reason the military uses them with tripods.  Or bolted to Hummers.
