What is age appropriate? I asked this in the Arts and Crafts section about an artist named Gorky (whose real name was something Armenian). All his life he pretended to be different identities, and he eventually hung himself. I get to teach this guy to fifthgraders. I'm curious, though. What topics ar...

Chrysler to Make a 1,500 Non-Union Job Cut I can stand up, walk 10 feet from my seat and look at the window to see the Chrylser Headquarters building. As we are approaching the holiday season, I'm thinking that many of our Thanksgiving and Christmas traditions are centered around food. But I'm trying to focus less on food this year and more on other traditions as part of my quest to be released from my obsession with food. So, let's have your favori...

Have you ever had a sudden memory or strong emotional response triggered by something you smell? (I had a bad one tonight. ) When I have these, it's so real, I'm back in time faster than I could blink. Am I alone in this?

I was thinking the other day that I'd really like to hear Celtic Women cover Depeche Mode's Somebody. (I think that could be really haunting if done the way I hear it in my head.) What are your favorite real or imagined cover songs?

I tend to have really weird dreams anyway, apparently moreso when I have a fever. So this morning after DH went off to work, the kids were asleep and I went back to bed. While I was getting in bed I was wondering if I should call my piano students and cancel lessons again today. I went to sleep and dreamed of t...

http://www5.ocn.ne.jp/~magi9/isracame.htm This fascinates me. Especially the parts about the Shinto Temple and the Jewish Temple (mid article)... I'm tired. Stop it already. Why does it seem just about everyone has created an imperceptible hyper-sensitive bubble around themselves? I've burst a few today. I've lived in several different wards, but most of them have been predominately white collar. I've been living in a blue collar ward for almost three years now. There are a lot of white collar ward members, but this is the first ward I've been in that had more blue collar. In fact, in most wards I've lived...

Where in the world did the word "poppycock" come from? What does it mean to call someone that? And how did lbs. become the abbreviation for pounds? And where did the expression, "By the skin of my teeth..." come from? My teeth don't have skin.
