Politics--limited by the Possible
(Preview)
I've been lurking a bit here--checking out some of the various threads before I dive in. I think that there is a need for me to state a general principle that will apply to many of the discussions here.
Many people here have expressed their desires for what they think would be right and good in Americ...

At the far end of town where the Grickle-grass grows and the wind smells slow-and-sour when it blows and no birds ever sing excepting old crows.. is the Street of the Lifted Lorax.
And deep in the Grickle-grass, some people say, if you look deep enough you can still see, today, where the Lorax once sto...

A Reconciliation Question...
(Preview)
Hey all, this morning as I was reading the scriptures, the following scripture popped out to my attention:
D&C 1:16
They seek not the Lord to establish his righteousness, but every man walketh in his own way, and after the image of his own god, whose image is in the likeness of the world, and w...

McCain the antichrist?
(Preview)
I'd love to hear specifics as to why folks hate McCain... I don't think he'd be an effective president because he tries too hard to appease everyone, and it's hard to be a leader with vision and pander to certain factions (with which I disagree... :) ) .
What's your big beef with McCain? And who looks pr...

Electronic Voting Machines
(Preview)
I am dead set against electronic voting machines. I think that they make it too easy to steal an election. At least with paper ballots you make it harder to stuff the ballot box. On a computer, you just change a few bits and you're done!
I understand that there are measures in place to try to prevent that...

Iran anyone?
(Preview)
So, Iraq is still plugging away, with a fledgeling democracy vs. insurgency trying to destabalize it, mainly by trying to up the sectarian violence a little. Iran is a player in this game. Israel and Lebannon geared up, fought for a while, and geared down, with not much to show for it other than a bunch o...

Stemcells! Stemcells! Everywhere! And not a drop to drink!
(Preview)
What's your opinion on stemcell research? Do you think it matters if you distinguish between embryonic and adult stemcell research? And should the government fund any of it?

I cringe to ask this question.
Does anyone have theories about alternate explanations for September 11?
The one thing that sticks in my head, is when i watched the towers come down, I thought: that building looks like it was imploded. It was just too neat.
I saw a carefully orchestrated b...

I heard on the radio today that the international community is trying to get Syria to stop sending weapons to Hezbollah. It seems that they're just using the cease fire as an opportunity to rearm.

Lord's guidance on political problems
(Preview)
That the Lord is concerned about the government of the United States of America is evidenced by His having set this country up in the freedom and liberty that He did (3 Nephi 21:4) and "suffered" our constitutional form of government to be established (D&C 101:77-78). "It is not sur...
