This article is about employers who don't pay illegal workers. I think that an employer should pay people for work done, regardless of whether they discover they're illegal or not. If they discover that they're illegal, they're fully within their rights to fire them. In fact, I think that it's a necessity. But you should pay the worker anyway for work done. I do think it's galling that people come here illegally, flaunt our laws, and then want our laws to defend them when something goes wrong. If you want the laws to work, uphold them by coming into the country legally or not at all.

Agreed. That just is not honest to not pay someone for work done, regardless of the status as a legal immigrant or not.
Maybe the law could be altered that if an employer finds out the employee is an illegal immigrant, the worker gets a fine that ends up garnishing all the pay and puts it into a government fund to pay for border control.
