Need more Democrats! (Poll)

After reading 2 Nephi 2:11 and Ether 12:27, I think we need more Democrats on this forum.

Meanwhile where do you lean to and why?

I'd like to know who, other than Ray, voted for Gadiantan Robber Barons...  It wasn't me this time...

I think of myself as far right I guess but I never heard the word "Straussian" till I saw your poll.  I tried to find information on it on the Internet, but the words were all so big and unfamiliar I didn't learn anything.  So I'll say mid right.  An Internet test once showed that I was only slightly to the right (although I know it's stupid to believe everything you see on the Internet), so maybe that wouldn't be too dishonest.

I should probably give the 101 on Leo Strauss and neoconservatism.  Not all far-right are neo-cons - a large chunk of Republicans despise neo-cons.  First off,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Strauss

As one can see he's attributed as the father of neo-conservatism.  His philosophies are much like Nietzsche with the exception that Strauss believes that by all means the truth must not be revealed to the public, or it will destroy society and the 'philosophers' ... "perpetual deception of the citizens by those in power is critical because they need to be led, and they need strong rulers to tell them what's good for them."  One of his two heroes was Niccolo Machiavelli, and Strauss embraces many Machiavellian philosophies such as "a political order can be stable only if it is united by an external threat, and if no external threat exists, then one has to be manufactured."  Strauss also believes that religion is the opiate for the masses, but that the masses need their opium.

Leo Strauss taught at Chicago University and formed a secret band of loyal students to carry out his agenda.  His loyal followers today include Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, and Paul Wolfowitz ... three of the head people in charge of the War on Terror.

PS- I voted Constitutionalist  :)

Okay Line, I was going to take a contrarian view to what you said, but I'll defer until I learn more about neo-conservatism.  I mean, some of the things you infer, and from what I've seen in just a couple of articles at wikipedia, really make it out to sound insidious and reactionary in nature, just a "democratic" version of facism or communism.  I think that is perhaps an extreme allegation by those of different political philosophy, as the articles briefly make mention of.  But, I seriously doubt Strauss "formed a secret band of loyal students to carry out his agenda."  What was his agenda?

I am pleasantly surprised that there are so many here who claim to be constitutionalists.  I guess a few have read D&C 98, 101, & 109, and the Constitution itself.
