Oil Spill

I saw something interesting yesterday, a bit troublesome.  I never watch the guy but there was a video of MSNBC's Keith Olberman interviewing some oil expert and they were discussing a "doomsday" scenario.  That would be that the actual sea floor above the oil well has been cleaved or breached somehow, and the oil is virtually impossible to stop from leaking.  The only partial remedy would be to drill enough relief wells to slow down the leak or to wait until the oil well has exhausted it's supply. There was some talk that maybe BP and the Feds already know about it and are not being forthcoming due to a panic.

Then there is an article in Newsweek on how some Christians see the oil spill as a possible fulfilment of a prophecy in Revelation about 1/3 of the sea turning to "blood". I had to admit that the possibility had crossed my mind that this could turn from catastrophic to cataclysmic if not fixed soon.

What do you all think?

Others have expressed concerns the same as Fregamis'.   I cannot yet envision the oil spill contaminating 1/3 of the seas; that's a lot of water to poison.   But add to the oil the the chemicals being used to disperse the oil spill.

http://www.naturalnews.com/028974_Corexit_dispersants.html

"On the toxicity question, you could hardly find a more dangerous combination of poisons to dump into the Gulf of Mexico than what has been revealed in Corexit. The Corexit 9527 product has been designated a "chronic and acute health hazard" by the EPA. It is made with 2-butoxyethanol, a highly toxic chemical that has long been linked to the health problems of cleanup crews who worked on the Exxon Valdez spill.

"A newer Corexit recipe dubbed the "9500 formula" contains dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate, a detergent chemical that's also found in laxatives. What do you suppose happens to the marine ecosystem when fish and sea turtles ingest this chemical through their gills and skin? And just as importantly, what do you think happens to the human beings who are working around this chemical, breathing in its fumes and touching it with their skin?"

Yeah, it's a bad situation. We know that the prophecies will be fulfilled somehow. We just don't know if this is one of the ways.
It's not commonly known that oil reservoirs generally don't run out, they just stop pumping because it becomes harder to get the oil and economically unrewarding. And reservoirs previously thought to be dry have later produced oil.
In other words, don't wait for it to run out.

I've heard rumor that the Gulf of Mexico is soon to be renamed "Obama's Half Black Sea".

I'm not buying it.

That's funny. Of course, there are rumors that Obama's father was more arabic than black, but it's difficult to know such things.
I do know that this is shaping up to be bad. How bad we won't know. Mexico had a worse spill 40 years ago, but we're shackled by environmentalists and bleeding hearts.
