Those of us who are true constitutionalists, and even those who fancy ourselves conservatives better not get too optimistic. I see no signs that Scott Brown will oppose collectivism, foreign wars, or loss of national sovereignty, but instead merely follow the Republican party tradition of being "moderate" in its leaders' pursuit of global government.
He, like most Americans who fancy themselves conservatives, does not evidence a real understanding of or appreciation of limited government and the constitution. IMO he was voted in because people are mad because their own financial ox is being gored, or their lifestyle is being inconvenienced, not because they understand the principles behind bad law and bad programs. And I suspect that Obama's mandatory healthcare program is unpopular with many Massachusetts Democrats and Socialists because of their frustration over the mandatory healthcare that then Governor Mitt Romney instituted in their state.
Brown's victory definitely was an upset for the strong socialist element in Massachusetts. It definitely has turned a lot of heads, especially among people who are awakening to our "awful situation". Here in Arizona many Republicans are hoping and working for an upset of Senator John McCain, who I consider a closet globalist and socialist. And I understand in Utah that Senator Bennett will be challenged by many who consider him a RINO (Republican In Name Only).
