The company that I was working for layed me off a few weeks ago. The companies that owed them money couldn't pay on time because the companies that owed them couldn't pay, and so on. Something about some credit crisis I believe.
So after 3 missing paychecks (which they say they will give to me when able) they layed off a bunch of people (around 15 people out of 200). I barely survived the previous 2 layoffs because I was one of the newer people there.
At least I now have a bunch of money in a savings account (Most of my money for the past few months.)
Now I am relaxing with my family around the holiday season. Sometime later I may get a new job or try out Graduate School.
As I don't have a computer with internet access (I am using one of my friends now.) I haven't been here much, and thought that as it pertains to the type of thing we discuss anyway, I would explain why.
When it comes right down to it, I don't think that any industry is recession proof. I lost one contract a few years ago because the company I was performing work for couldn't get the contract with their client signed. The industry? 911 emergency calls. It seems that that industry would never go away, but I guess they have cutbacks too. We look forward to your greater participation when you can.

Oy Pt314 - I feel for ya. I've done 6 months unemployment in the past, spanning a Christmas season. That was during the last hard times in '02 when the telecom bubble burst.
Keep your head up!
