Brilliant timing, hic! And yes, sometimes extremism can turn off the unconverted. (Unconverted to food storage, that is... some call it other names...)
I personally like to have wheat and stuff that's tucked away in awesomely good containers that will last 1,000 years that I never have to touch unless I'm starving. Other stuff I'll rotate, but I do not grind wheat for instance on a regular basis and make bread out of it. I'd like to know the whole routine for the skill set, but I won't be using it until I'm counting my ribs in the mirror.

Yeah, I'm amazed at how accepting MrHic has become of my "Mormon food-hording tendancies" as I joking call it. I think the whole getting laid-off and having to move thing adjusted his reality quite nicely.

Yes, and if we were faithful enough, we wouldn't need to have food storage, right?

Panic buying is bad, period. But if these current shortages inspire people to get started on their food storage, then so much the better. For ourselves, we've been buying stuff, mostly, because we like to have what we use on hand and in bulk. I bought a 25lb bag of flour at Sam's the other day because we go through a lot of flour. I did buy a #10 can of spaghetti sauce for food storage (and yes, I know that it won't keep well once opened, so I suppose that we'll just have a lot of spaghetti).
