Calling Beefche's attention to this important NEWS flash!!!

It's not really a Church or Forum Member announcement, but I wasn't sure where to put this...  This is a nice write up about a pretty amazing family... so even thought I am not even a huge fan I had to make sure Beefie saw this!!!

I walked by Jimmy once at Church when I was like 12 or 13 and didn't know who he was, thinking he was a cousin or something of the Stake President's son... my only thought (wisely kept to myself) was "Who's the fat kid?"...

I didn't once feel a twinge of rock n' roll, country, or puppy love... wink.gif

My grandparent's family (descendants) is bigger than that... there were about that many grandkids, but I think we have a lot more great-grandkids... And some of the great-grandkids are getting old enough to be of marriage age...

We DVRd the program. It was very, very good although I found Marie to be a bit annoying. She just seemed determined to be the center of attention.

Hello...???????

Jase, dear... she is the only girl in a family of boys... An entertainment family at that... She was trained to be that way... and quite honestly she's pretty good at it, though I don't care for her music style. I am not a huge fan of any of the the Osmonds and never was, I like Joseph... but I wouldn't go to it again, unless the tickets were free... I'll go to anywhere free if my hubby gets to go too!!! But, I really DO admire the family for hanging on to each other in a world where family means little. My parents raised a family of 8 on a shoestring, and we celebrated them this last spring too when they both died... so I understand the idea to celebrate their parent's lives. I really think that was NICE... They seem to be a strong family that pulls together during tough times.

thumbsup.gif.........Kudos to them!.........thumbsup.gif

I can't think of the Osmond's without thinking of my sisters bedroom walls covered with their photos when they were teenagers. I also can't think of them without thinking of the "Donnie and Marie" show (I enjoyed that as a kid). In addition I think of the time when my sister and I got front row seats to see them at the Ohio State fair, along with a bunch of missionaries. My sister was preparing for her mission and was doing something with them that day and the Osmond's let all the local missionaries in for free right next to the stage.
I was 11 years old but was still "excited" because I shook hands with Donny while he was singing on stage and he winked at me.

Yeah you're right Jason. I think Marie always does seem to want to be the center of attention.
I just watched her on "Dancing With the Stars" and even when the judges were giving their opinions and scores she kept going on and on and I don't think her partner got a word in edgewise. It was a bit annoying. She is talented and comes from a talented family, but boy she just keeps on a talking and talking and talking...

Yep, and those dolls she hawks are just creepy. Reminds me of those dolls in scary movies that open their eyes and watch you.

And with that admission, you have earned the undying envy and hatred of Bountiful's Beloved Bovine.  Watch yer back!  sprint.gif

Hmmm... Donny Osmond from 35 years ago, or Josh Grobin today?

I'd like to use a lifeline, please, Regis.

Ok now begin swooning.  He's even in a loin cloth!

Just as a side note, the DVD or VHS of Dream Coat is very good.  My kids love it.  The CD is also very good.

That was soooooo annoying! I like that song and the video kept pausing!! angered.gif
Ok, I'm not swooning but I thought Donny did an excellent job in that role.

As a side note my five year old came over and watched this and asked, "Where's his clothes?"

Sorry it kept pausing. Sometimes with Youtube it works best to pause the video and let the entire thing load up first before watching it. As for your five year old, you can tell him he lost them when he was running away from a bad woman! LOL!

Hey beefee...  I was talking to a friend (who is also a great fan) about your "interest" in Donny she sent this to me to share with you...  Have you ever seen this interview??? (4 sections on YouTube)  I thought Donny held his own pretty well, and was pretty well spoken...  for a pop-singer... wink.gif

I suppose it was inevitable that one of the Osmonds would get Parkinson's Disease... not surprising it was Donny. Sad...

Well my grandma had alzheimers and we laughed at her all the time. The only way to deal with that sort of thing is to laugh. I remember when we found a carton of ice cream melted in the dryer and commented how she was trying to make a milkshake. Or the time she walked down the road to my house in the middle of the night in winter with her dog under one arm and an entire place setting under the other and proudly announced when I opened the door, "I have come to be taught!". I didn't know whether to be scared of the utensils, placemat, and napkin ring in her hand or that vicious Jack Russel Terrier under her other arm.

That Jack Russel Terrier was just as off kilter as she was. It outlived her for years. One minute it would be all timid and hiding in the corner and the next it would be lunging at fencing for his cage trying to eat you, and then he would be wagging his tail wanting to play. I will never trust a Jack Russel Terrier again!

Personally I think this is a good move Jase... I personally believe all Jacks are bonkers... At least all the ones I've known... We even rescued one once, but had to find a new home for her, cause she shed too much for daughter's asthma... sniff.gif

So your gram's dog doesn't sound terribly unusual to me... for a Jack that is... cause they are just psycho by nature... giggle.gif

Hubby has about half his floor that are suffering some level of dementia... Those are his favorites. It's a new day, experience, adventure, every minute... of EVERY day! wink.gif

Polly, thanks for the links to the Parkinson interview.  That was wonderful.  I love Donny!  I was a so-so about him until I saw Joseph and my life changed.  Did you know that one of my life goals is to sing "Any Dream Will Do" with Donny in my car?  I'm telling you, the acoustics in my car are great and he and I harmonize so well together.  sing.gifshoutbox.gifsing.gif
