Maybe Arbi could grant a waiver in this case if Mr. Hiccups wanted to participate. Or maybe we could amend the rules to say that if a spouse is a member, then it's okay.

Don't give up on him. We had a guy in our ward the same way for over 20 years. Went every sunday with suit, tie, etc. Finally did join. All the kids were grown up and gone with their own families. Now they live in Navoo. My dad still hasn't joined. He reads the church magazines and was even the scoutmaster for our ward. Hasn't joined yet. I sometimes wonder what it will take.
I don't give up. I have it on good authority that he'll join. Other people do wonder sometimes, though.

Did his family get ripped off when they sold their farm to a Mormon? Did he leave a wedge in a tree? Did the bishop forget to unlock the building for a funeral?
No, Hoss, nothing like that. This is the man who took 3 years to decide to buy a new wallet when I told him his ten years old, falling apart, velcro, painted with palm trees one was about dead. It's only been a year that he's been coming to church every week. I figure he'll decide sometime within the next 10 years.
