You didn't notice the "name" in RED in my post??? My maiden name is the same as the things you walk on... with a silent "e" at the end....

Foote is how the English spelled Foot. So the 23rd Regiment of Foote means it is an infantry regiment. Maybe your ancestors took the King's Shilling and a life long enlistment with the other dregs of English society!

As for the red, it doesn't come up that way on my browser. Just black like everything else. Hence my question.

If I stare at it I can see a small pigment difference but barely. Maybe I am color blind!
