I edited an emoticon out of Coco's post in the Guy/Action film thread. It actually helped make her point very well, but I think that that particular emoticon is disturbing, and not in keeping with the standards of this board.

Use of the particular emoticon is usually a matter of poor taste. It was in response to my saying "drool factor" which was a colloquial reference to the concept of eye candy for certain segments of an audience, or casting which specifically incorporates physical attractiveness to opposite gender.

Sorry, everyone. I thought it was part of the bountiful "selection" because we could use it on bountiful...
Yes, I know it's in poor taste. Personally, I thought the whole sidetrack with the Victoria's Secret polygamous afterlife was in poorER taste. I suppose the difference was I am a female and used the humping thingey when referring to a man. The Victoria's Secret deal was about women, and must not be in as "poor taste" to the (male) moderators.

If you want, Coco, I can edit out the whole Victoria's Secret part of the thread. I'm trying not to be too heavy handed in moderating; it's just that the visual thing had more immediate effect on me. Just say the word. I have no control over the standard library of emoticons, so there are emoticons in there that I'd get rid of if I could. You're right; so much is dependent upon perspective, and I, as a male, see issues differently. So feedback from females is important to help me catch stuff that I miss.

I didn't notice it there, but yeah, it would be as equally in poor taste and were I moderator there may have asked the poster to edit it out. But, then again, it did look like you started the VS sidetrack in the other thread...
I am moderator there, but I don't see the emoticon... Okay, anyone who was using that emoticon, or even thinking about using that emoticon, in an LDS Discussions thread, don't make me smack ya one upside the head...
Or was there another VS sidetrack discussion thing on some other thread?

coco: If it's any consolation, I've been dying to use some of the "taboo" emoticons too... clearly they're no good and yet... they're there... just a mouse click away... like that nasty scab you know you shouldn't pick... but it's so pickable!!!
We should probably keep the board to a standard that even our Mother could read... cuz who knows, maybe one of us might want to invite our mother to join sometime... and that'd be OKAY, and I wouldn't judge that person harshly or anything...

I don't care if you edit it out or not. My MO is not changing my environment to suit me or make me feel better or more comfortable, but dealing with it inside my own self.
I didn't realize it was a generic library type of things with the emoticons. I thought you had hand-picked them previously, since you had added some from nauvoo and the ctr one since I've been here. That was my misunderstanding. I will be more selective.
As for female feedback, you probably won't get much from me, unless I'm directly involved like in this instance. I will usually be sitting back, taking it all in. If anything, I try to get people to reveal more of who they are. There it is! You're all part of my sick little experiment!! mwahahahaaaa!

Dude, my mom would be using that emoticon, and if there was one of a bull taking a poo she'd be using that one constantly, along with the *bird*, if there was such a thing. I'm trying to rein things in... every generation we get a little more calm... it's a slow process.
And yes, I started the VS thought train. Isn't it ironic?
Isn't there some beer on one of ray's new threads? Now as LDSs, we believe in humping more than beer, don't we?

I try to think of those icons as root beer, because it can be foamy too. If you'll notice, the CTR emoticon and the emoticon stolen from Nauvoo are off in their own little group to the left side of the emoticon box. The other emoticons shun them because they're new and special. Anyway, the predetermined ones are unchangeable. I can't add, edit, delete, look askance at, or do anything else to them. But I can add my own or later delete them.

It's British for something, but I don't know what it is, and I've never had the desire to ask the British ladies in our ward what it means...
But, I think that it could be akin to the level of ugliness that is attendant to the word that gets used like a million times in nearly every episode of Red Dwarf when the other characters are referring to Rimmer...

It refers to anal sex. It's a rather crude word for it.

ANYHOO-- I shall hereby try my best to not be so offensive and vulgar. So sorry. I'll admit, I've been known to let the censorship slide in the interest of serious laugh factor. I'll try to refrain.

That should teach me to post when I'm tired, busy, and it's the end of the week. I should have said, "Just say the word and I'll delete the offending content." I should have placed the sentence next to the sentence it referred to as well. Trust Euphrasie to catch me on a grammar and word choice error.
