If someone was able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that a 9/11 scale or worse event was about to occur, would you want to know? What would you then do with the knowledge? Who would you feel it is important to warn?

I would want to know period. If this style attack was going to imminently happen I would make sure I was not in a major city or on an airplane. If it is just a generic threat like those we've been having since 9-11 then the details aren't so critical and my normal behavior would probably not change.
I don't feel any of the possible answers necessarily fits my response to the question.
With the exception of trying to not be where it occurred, I don't know that the foreknowledge would have much utility to me other than to cause unnecessary and possibly emotional / mental crippling distress that would actually get in the way of handling the situation properly.

This is akin to the question "If it's possible to know that your baby will be born with a severe birth defect, would you want to know, or just deal with it after the baby is born?"
In both cases, I would absolutely want to know in as much detail as possible so that I can be as specific as possible in my preparations and response.

As to being akin... well, maybe. There is a big difference between preparing yourself for a handicapped child and the fallout of a terrorist attack and the collapse of social infrastructure. Both can cause a personal panic situation, but the former is from the challenge and if one is up to it and the other is from the unknown...
So, how exactly will knowledge that X is going to happen on Y date at Z location and will impact N people over an area of L space geographically help one to prepare other than to possibly help people to avoid being in L area at Y date and/or to have G goods / supplies to help get through the fallout of X if they are not able to avoid being in L at Y?
I'm not being sarcastic, so no one take my comment as an invitation to take down to me, just asking an honest question.
