Political Moderator

Cat served for a while as a posse moderator, helping me out when we had a large volume of trolls. He told me that he has been uncomfortable with uber moderator status, and this recent incident seems to have been really hard on him. So I have restored him to his previous moderator duties.
What this means is that we need one, preferably two, full time political moderators. Is anyone up for the task? Does anyone want to nominate somebody? Ideally it would be a person who doesn't participate as much in the political discussions, but is willing to moderate such discussions.

Does the winner get a really cool designation below their name like "political nitwit"???  Cause I could probably go for THAT...!!!  wink   On a positive note, I am neither a REP nor a DEM... I don't usually join into the political debates and I haven't a CLUE who I will be able to vote for in this coming Presidential Election...  Everyone so far sounds pretty "stupid" to me, just reading what all y'all have said so far.

I don't know for "sure"... but I could probably take a stab at it...  Unfortunately, I really think most politics is silly, and I don't understand y'all being so excited about it!!!  That's probably NOT the direction you want to lean, right??? evileye  But I am pretty sure I could tell people to "be nice" and "get real" and "stop that, right now", and not take it personal if they begin to hate me... (I'm a mom and have been for a long time, so I am used to that...)  What the heck... if you wanna take a chance on me, I'm game...

(I had to work through that whole thing... sorry for "typing" out loud...) rolleyesbiggrinweirdface

PollyAnna, let me think, but I am likely to take you up on that.

As far as I know, Polly would be a good moderator, and I like her idea about having some designation for the moderators.

In general, it's my opinion that those who seek power are exactly the people who should not have it.

On the other hand, those who have a desire to serve are called to the work. (I could have looked it up to get it right, but didn't.)

Not that it's worth anything, but from what I've seen so far she has the wisdom and maturity to keep Ray and I in line.

Okay... So THAT endorsement scares me!!!  wink  weirdface evileye  biggrin

Can I also say that if you need someone that is "always" available that wouldn't be me...  I am suppose to be working most days... so I usually only check in on my lunch hour.  hmm

OH, and I can't seem to SPELL lately!  ashamed

I can handle trolls and other urgent situations. It seems that most problems can be resolved on lunch hour. Of course, I would prefer to have two moderators for the political forums (not counting me), but one would be great.
It can get nasty sometimes, but usually not. Pretty much everything is out in the open. If you can imagine yourself handling the situation we had with the evolution thread, for instance, then you can handle being a political moderator.
I'm also not asking for a commitment - you would be able to quit any time you want.

Well, let's take a stab at it, and if the raybees or Jason get to be too much for me, I'll admit I'm WHooPPED...  weirdface

I'll try and not antagonize Ray too much. It seems like no one wants to see that loin cloth cage match.

I think Polly would be great. All I could come up with is --

"Is THAT all you've got?!"

"You're pathetic!"

"Your logic seriously sucks, dude."

"We'll have no quoting of dead WRONG Church leaders here."

Ahem.

Go Polly! w00t.gif Go Polly! biggrin.gif

Congrats Polly! You're super! And I think you're politically detached enough to actually be able to do a fine job...

When in doubt, however, Jase started it, and I'm a hapless helpless victim.

I've decided we'll stick with the one moderator for a bit, let her get used to the job, then, if there are willing people, it'll be time to add another. If you have nominations, or if you want to self nominate, please send me a private message.
