Where'd all the Islamic Extremists Go?

** WARNING : Spoilers + Confession of having seen R rated movies alert. I pray forgiveness **

The other night, I watched "Dejavu" with Denzel Washington.  It was a pretty good movie, fairly violent for a PG-13.  I observed something:  the bad guy was a terrorist who blew up a boat full of naval personnel and their families. The terrorist was a psychotic blue eyed white American former military dude.  No hint of Islam.  In the movie portrayal of "The Sum of All Fears" the bad guys were neo-nazis (ie not Allah worshipers; I head heard that in the original book account they were Middle Eastern men). Before 9/11, there were movies with Islamic terrorists ("Executive Decision", "The Siege").  As Fred Willard said in "A Mighty Wind", hey! whaahappened?weirdface

Am I imagining things, or have any of you seen things to the contrary? Can you list any other recent movies that have had Islamic terrorists as the bad guys?( I will not judge you badly if they were rated R.)

The media also doesn't tend to acknowledge when a crime or planned crime is committed by muslims. That recent plot that the feds thwarted against a military base? It was planned by muslims. But only yesterday did CNN start acknowledging that fact.

24 is the only show that I know of that had islamic terrorists on it as a regular badguy, but even then, they have not been consistent. Often they're some unknown origin...

I just can't get into this thread... everytime I read the title, I start hearing the tune to "Where Have All The Flowers Gone?" except with Islamic Terrorists in place of Flowers... wink.gif

CAIRS has been quick to bring pressure on Hollywood for any portrayal of Muslims as terrorists. 24 has taken some real heat for a past season and the current season. CAIRS has be very vigilent in letter writing and threatening sponsors if muslims are portrayed as terrorists and of course Hollywood has caved not wanting to offend. Imagine if this was WWII. You couldn't make any movies showing the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor.

Yeah, instead of showing the Japanese attacking Pearl Harbor, it would have to have been the evil forces of Iceland... rolleyes

So, as I don't watch 24 or any of the other shows / movies like that, where are they portraying the bad guys as coming from?

Does Hollywood take into account the fact the fundamental islamic nut jobs are holding absolutely no punches when it comes to making shows with Americans or American society in it? But, no do not offend, even if they do use a knock-off of Mickey Mouse to teach young children to be hateful and look forward to the day they can be a suicide bomber...

It seems like the main stream media doesn't even want to mention the bust of the Islamic terrorists in New Jersey... when they do so it's an after thought. For me, it's a big deal.

I am grateful for the fellow at Circuit City that gave a heads up, but it makes you wonder how many other cells are out there waiting to do their damage in Chicago or Los Angeles or Phoenix.

Many shows and movies seem to use former or current military leaders, the Chinese, Big Business, Former Soviet Leaders, and others as the bad guys in movies and T.V. This way they can use them to also sell the conspiracy theories. Did you see that CAIR is actually warning the media not to mention the Islamic factor in their reports of the terrorists in Jersey? http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,271117,00.html

Hey, if you want to experience bizarre behavior, go post something even mildly anti-Islamic on Nauvoo or Hatrack.

You'll have the ketchupqueen calling you a racist before you can say "Griffith Park Burning."
