I don't know about you folks, but I'm getting enthused for next weekend. There just isn't anything that refreshes the Spirit like 10 hours of listening to our prophets, seers and revelators.
Life is good!
BTW... how do you like my avatar?
Boyd K Packer... what a great man.

Boyd K. Packer truly is a wonderful man. Very inspired, and very Christ-like. If all men were like unto Boyd K. Packer, the very foundations of hell would be shaken forever. This world would be a better place. I may be going to Utah for a mission reunion at conference time. We'll see.

I admire you guys that can sit through ten hours of conference. I have a problem sitting in one place that long and I get really figety and uncomfortable. I usually can get about two sessions and have to read the rest later. I'm too much like a three year old to be able to sit for 10 hours.
I did hear rumor that Dallin Oaks once said that sometimes when he's in conference and he looks like he's sleeping... HE IS!! another reason for the Ensign and LDS.org

Well if Elder Oaks sometimes has a problem then I don't feel so bad. Sometimes I think I must be the only one with this problem. Elder Oaks is a good man and a great Apostle. I hope I can be even 1/10th the man that he is someday.
Before the two little ones came along, we attended all sessions at the Stake Center--picnics outside between the sessions.
A one year-old and a three-year old make it so I don't get much out of conference in the Stake Center now. We still go on Sunday, but we listen via internet to the two Saturday general sessions. Our computer is in a nook in the kithchen, and last conference I got the pantry reorganized and the rest of the kitchen deep-cleaned. I think I really listen better when my hands are doing something.
This time around, I think I'll make bread and a bunch of meals to put in the freezer.

The world needs both Marthas and Marys. After all, Martha only got reprimanded when she started criticizing Mary's service. (Guess what I've been reading?)
We listen to all the sessions online. The kids sit in for at least one, but they get to play Conference bingo and color.
My favorite speakers: Elder Eyring, Elder Holland, Elder Oaks. And Elder Bednar is fast joining the ranks.
We must be pre-sisters (I just made that up- premortal sisters? he he) cuz those are my favorites, too! Plus Elder Packer is in there, too. And Elder Scott lately is really getting me excited! And you can't forget our Pres. Hinckley! Wow! He has some amazing stuff... sometimes I don't even "get it" until I read over it again! So loving and pointed at the same time...
And that David Stone from one or two conferences back? WOW! That was the most moving talk I've heard in some time. I was GLUED.
DVR for conference! Yeah!

I'll sometimes listen while doing something else...
... why I remember unloading a truck load of hay once in the barn during a solemn assembly and when it came time to sustain the prophet of the Lord, I put down that bale of hay and raised my arm to the square...
... no wait... that was Pres. Clark Cedarlof...
nevermind....

I love General Conference! I haven't always, and I still sometimes fall asleep during the afternoon sessions, but the morning sessions always have the talks about the subjects I've been praying about/need to be praying about. I'm trying to get through last Conference Ensign by Saturday...we'll see if I can manage it. I usually don't put time limits on my reading because then I just rush through, but this time I figure it's best if I still think about what I read, so I read one talk and then go do something else while reflecting on it. Elder Wirthlin's "Sunday Will Come" talk has way more pertinence than I thought when I first watched or read it.

Just bring in a cooler full of Pepsi and Mtn. Dew. You'd be surprised how many people during Conference will hit you up for a can of forbidden-pleasure-bevearge.
For sitting problems, just pull in one of those comfy chairs or couches from the foyer. Your tithing paid for it ; might as well utilize it.

Coco, tell MrCoco to get off his duff and get to General Priesthood meeting this evening (I'm sure it is being broadcast to at least one building in your Stake if you're in the US)... As a man who also feels the loss of his Dad at every General Priesthood meeting (as it was a tradition to go together from the time I was a new Deacon to the conference just several months before he suddenly died where I was a married adult with 2 1/2 kids), I know how lonely it can feel, particularly since my own AP aged son does not go (as he is autistic, has no need, and is already a Celestial candidate)... But, that is still no excuse to not go, and MrCoco's dad would probably not accept it either. I know my Dad wouldn't. He will grow by overcoming that awkward feeling.

Great talks. Elders Wirthlin and Hales, Bishop McMullin and the First Presidency.
Pres. Hinckley has said it before but it bears repeating, "Be clean!"

I went with 3 of my boys... a Deacon, a Teacher and a Priest. My Elder was in the conference center with my FIL. For the first time since my father can remember he didn't attend the priesthood session of conference.
