One of the signs of the last days is wacky weather, which we've definitely been experiencing. Some attribute it to global warming (which is strange given the frigid temperatures around the whole nation), and others to a natural cycle. But we have been told that the elements in the last days shall be in confusion. That much is certainly true. But what do you personally think is the cause of it?

I'm still not convinced that it is wacky. Maybe in the context of the last few decades. But compared to other eras of earth's history? But then again, I'm not an expert like Al Gore.

I don't know, in some ways I think this is just a precursor of the "wacky" weather to come. I guess I just always thought of "wacky" weather in more the terms of not being able to distinguish the seasons ie summer would feel like winter, winter would feel like summer. But, I guess wacky weather could also be abnormally cold for any given area such as So CA is experiencing. Except they, like everywhere else, seem to go in cycles and everyone has short term memories because they can't even remember what the weather was like 2 months ago. I remember back in the early 90's that it was a really cold winter in So CA that it snowed in the beach cities of Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. The snow didn't stick for long, but it snowed!
The question dh and I have been really asking ourselves through all this is, are we prepared for weather emergencies? The other day we started talking again about needing another source of heat and what can we realistically afford right now. Food, clothes, cooking we have, it's the heating that we are not prepared for if we were not able to use our natural gas forced air unit.

I have the same predicament. With sub-zero temps during the past week, we would be seriously hurting without power. It is one of the major chinks in our preparedness armor.
