Deep Song Lyrics...

There are just certain songs, when I hear them, they have an effect on me...

What song gets you thinking, remembering, wondering about what ifs, when it comes on the radio?  What song pulls at your heart strings (errr... what's a heart string?)?  What song takes you away to another place or time (be it real or imagined)?

I'm thinking contemporary songs and not church music...

For example, although I don't like the song, whenever I hear "This Thing Called Love", I am whisked back to the memory of junior high wrestling practice where we wrestlers would be running the halls for conditioning and only semi-purposely disrupting the cheerleaders (every 2 to 3 minutes) who would be practicing their routine to said song by dashing through the area of the hallway they were practicing in.  The guys in front would just run right through and we in the back had to deal with the fallout... the yells, the shooting of knives with their eyes... and it was not fair, as those of us in the back who were slower were actually typically the more considerate and had secret crushes on one or more of the cheerleaders as well, even if we didn't look as studly as our peers who took steroids and looked like Sly Stallone (how else do you explain the fact an 8th or 9th grade guy has a 5 o'clock shadow?)...

Please share.  Elaborate as much as you like, share the specific lyrics, etc.

I'm really fond of Mary Chapin Carpenter. There are a couple songs that I just love of hers, because they're so poetic and insightful.

Here are a couple links to the lyrics...

I dunno why I love songs about unrequited love... :)

I really like Mary-Chapin, too.  I think my favorite song of hers, with one of my favorite lines is Never Had It So Good

And the best line would be:

And when she burns you again, and the phone doesn't ring....  baby....  it's me.

Gotta love that line.

I'll have to think about the original question, now.
