Favorite Cheese?

How can you pick just one?

I picked Monterrey Jack, but I prefer it with the Jalepenos mixed into it.

Exactly, how can a person of impeccable upbringing and grooming choose just one?  Each cheese has it's place in the greater scheme of Good Eats, and a well rounded (physically as well as culturally) man will imbibe in each of these from time to time (the stinkier the cheese, the less likely he will have to share it with the kids too!).  But, you did leave off Muenster cheese!  Shame be upon you and your children and your children's children!

I love cheese and I eat probably way too much.  I put it on everything.  My wife thinks I'm crazy.  I like all the cheeses but a good sharp chedder and Monterey Jack are my favorites.  I also enjoy a gouda, matzorella, provolone, etc.  The only cheese I don't think I would eat is that head cheese.  That stuff just looks and smells too nasty even for me.

Head cheese isn't really cheese... I've heard it is the gelatinous rendering of pigs' heads...

{Homer drool} Ummmmm!  Gelatinous rendering of pigs' heads... with poo crystal seasoning! Aaaaaaannnnnnnhhhh! {/Homer drool}

Please review, and be ready for a multi-format test in the next week.  There will be a multiple choice section, fill in the blank, true/false, and 50% of the grade will be on the long essay portion.

What about nacho cheese?  Is it really a cheese if it remains a liquid at room temperature? And what about cheese wiz.  Is it really cheese if it comes out of a can under pressure from compressed air?

Here is the way to determine...

On your next scout camp out, carry out an expirament.  Have the boys build two fires.  Have the boys toss a can of cheez whiz on one camp fire, and a wheel of brie on the other.  Observe the results, and it should become quite obvious which is preferred in and engineered specifically for the mutant squirrel hunters arsenal.

I love all cheeses. Cow cheeses more than goat cheeses, however. But yes, cheese is right up there with potatoes for the best food in the world. thumbsup.gif

Gouda
Brie
Gorganzola
Feta
Havarti

...and all the rest. With the exception of Swiss. Just a little bitter sometimes.

It's possible Manna was really cheese. THink about it. The color...goes bad in a day of desert heat...

Ray, you are seriously missing some excellent cheeses from the list, and ones I love:

Gruyere
Raclette
Muenster
Edam
Emmentaler (what we call Swiss, the American version is not the same)
Appenzeller
Waliser Alpenkaese
Jarlsburg
Asagio

I love about all cheese, but my favorites are:

Emmentaler
Montery Jack
Havarti is very, very yummy
Gruyere, about $17 a pound
Raclette, Swiss dish over potatoes
Muenster

My brother served a mission in Switzerland, and he made it his goal to try every sort of cheese there was. He stopped when he got to the liquid cheeses.

Gouda, Gouda, Gouda, Gouda.

I must have some western european blood in my veins.... and this on a Fast Sunday when I have a big chunk of Gouda just sitting in the fridge.
