Let's pick and choose which voter mandated laws we implement and follow now, why don't we... Were the states that approved gay marriage or civil unions being crammed down the throat by activist judges able to postpone? But here, a constitutional ammendment ratified by the voters of the state gets to be ignored until sometime in the future because the governor and regents disagree with it and don't want to implement it...
Definitely something wrong with this. The will of the people is not being carried out - they should vote out those who shut them up and show them who is really in charge. Perhaps some time is necessary for the universities to make the necessary changes but no continued delay should be tolerated and the amendment should receive the support of the governing officials regardless whether or not they wanted the amendment.
This happens in Nazifornia all the time. Usually though here the lawsuit begins and the state just buckles or mounts a weak defense of the voter passed laws that don't fit the politics of San Frangayo. Welcome to my heck America!
