I decided to start this topic because Cat's great picture in the paper for their nativity pageant. Our ward used to have a living nativity and then later a "night in Bethlahem" deal. Now we have "Breakfast with Santa" which I boycott because I get enough Santa on TV, at the stores, etc. Anyway, what does your ward or stake do for Christmas?
As mentioned, our ward does the One Night in Bethlehem program and concerts for the community we've developed over the years... when that is over, folks are pooped out and don't want to go to the trouble (plus there is no more budget to cover the expense) of having a ward dinner or party or anything. Plus, we have a lot of folks that go on vacation in December due to plant shut down at the end of the year (coincides with Christmas break for schools). It would be nice to have a dinner or something, but our ward has a problem getting people to come out in numbers to anything like a dinner at the church other than our Chili cookoff in the spring.
Who is the Pharisee that said their ward celebrates Hanukkah?

Of course, I suspect that it would be dangerous to have an "airing of grievances" in a ward. That part of the evening might never end.

I think the feats of strength in our ward would provide outstanding entertainment value! (Our YM came in dead last on the scout Highland Games--most couldn't even lift the caber)

Ah yes... Festivus... The holiday for the restofus!
That "airing of grievances" reference reminds me of the guys in Young Men / Scouts I grew up with. In our attempt to show the girls in the ward how silly it was for them to get mad at each other and point out things they didn't like about the other (which always seemed to come to a flare-up at of all times a youth temple trip or youth conference), we started doing public "airing of grievances" between us as guys... Oh, that was hilarious! We were in stitches laughing (and even had the girls laughing too) by the time we were through. The "airing of grievances" essentially turned into a contest to see who had the guts to press their tongue against the flagpole in the dead cold of winter... The winner would be he who came up with the best insult using the most obscure and least offensive thing about the other guy's personality they could come up with!

Sorry, I added Festivas. I forgot about it. Probably because as the head of the household I don't like being wrestled and pinned to the floor at the conclusion of Festivas. That and the airing of grievances by my children happens daily anyway! The stripper pole in our bedroom also doubles as the "Festivas Pole"
