Someone was telling me about something called a Jerusalem Artichoke. It sounds like a good survival food, because it is easy to cultivate and is fairly nutritious. In fact, it grows almost like a weed, so be careful you don't plant it where it will choke off other plants.

Of course, the entry does indicate that due to the type of starch it produces, it has a well earned reputation for causing... ahem... flatulence.
Makes me wonder if they didn't use some of them weeds in the food at the BYU cafeterias (specifically the Morris Center and MTC) during my time in the dorms and at the MTC.
