Would it really matter if he was? If there is any validity to the accusations, then whether it is a "blackmail" sort of thing or not is irrelevant. The man succombed to temptation, and ostensibly the same sort of temptations that he preaches against.
Personally, I think he probably was set up, but only after the folks found out who he was because they realized the damage it would do. But it doesn't appear that they had to go and fabricate evidence to then come back with the "stereotypical photos of him in comproming situations."

I agree it has nothing to do with the election, but I do sometimes wonder if certain parties do their best to create compromising situations. I wonder if this will be a tactic of the left in the future, gay prostitutes getting close to key players, and then coming out with the dirt...

I've been reading the commentary in Denver papers recently, and, as is usual, the letters to the editor are entirely missing the point. The letters I've seen are bemoaning how the poor homosexual Pastor Ted is put upon by his church, and that Christianity is a religion of guilt, and that if only they'd let him be who he is he'd be happy. That is, they go about it from entirely the wrong direction. They look at Pastor Ted and see a homosexual who is trying, for whatever reason, to be something other than what he is. The reality of the situation is that he was a man who was teaching a more or less good message, but gave in to the very evil that he was teaching against. That he is fallen proves how pernicious the evil is. I can see the other side; it does look very hypocritical for him to preach against it but partake of the evil himself. But the homosexual lifestyle destroys lives, and it's pure evil that they try to paint that lifestyle as a good thing.

I haven't heard much about this story since the election. It was a huge scandal intended to scare voters and apparently worked pretty well for some... anything that's said now will be damage control for the gay agenda... They are so transparent sometimes.

It's still a big story in the Denver press. But there's no doubt that it was intended to skew the election. But, since the male prostitute involved wasn't able to use the incident to influence passage of the civil union law in Colorado, I'd say he failed.

Sounds very much like the "gay" community in that area is actively working to silence it's opponents via name calling and hate labelling. Did anyone look at the comments to the article? Yeah, they claim they have no rights, when in fact they can and are vilifying those who do not agree with them AND they are so doing ostensibly rather vocally and regularly with a fair degree of impunity. But, should anyone say anything that they don't like, well that person is a hate monger and hypocrite and is nigh unto being guilty of a hate crime.
I for one will be grateful for that someday when those of us who chose to live righteously will no longer be forced to suffer the influence of those who do not.

Barnes clearly is not justified acting upon his homosexuality. The risks of that lifestyle are not just a risk to himself, but his wife and family.
Those behind the "exposure" of the preachers think they've got moral authority. I think some of the hypocrisy that they're attempting to expose is real. Both on the part of the preacher and the paritioners. Clearly being open about one's gender bias isn't a popular notion with certain folks.
