I keep forgetting about the 400 or so suspected ists at Guantanamo. Why are there so many roadblocks to getting these guys tried? Bush to Unveil Plan to Try Gitmo Detainees
Because they yield valuable intelligence. . . if you try them, the government doesn't have leverage over them, in terms of plea-bargaining, and all the rest. . . and the longer you can just hold them, indefinitely, the longer it is that they can't serve whatever number of years they would serve before they're let go. . . and since some of these guys are really bad news. . . letting them go, is not good for most life-loving american types. . .
