I find it an interesting exercise to try to figure out where we are on this sequence of events.
1 Nephi 13:
12) And I looked and beheld a man among the Gentles, who was separated from the seed of my bretheren by many waters; and I beheld the spirit of God, that it came down and wrought upon the man; and he went forth upon the many waters, even unto the seed of my bretheren, who were in the promised land.
13) And it came to pass that I beheld the spirit of God, that it wrought upon other Gentiles; and they went forth out of captivity, upon the many waters.
16) ...the Gentiles who had gone forth out of captivity did humble themselves before the Lord; and the power of the lord was with them.
17) And I beheld that their mother Gentiles were gathered together upon the waters, and upon the land also, to battle against them.
18) And I beheld that the power of God was with them, and also that the wrath of God was upon all those that were gathered together against them to battle.
19) And I, Nephi, beheld that the Gentiles that had gone out of captivity were delivered by the power of God out of the hands of all other nations
D&C 87
1)...beginning at the rebellion of South Carolina, which will eventually terminate in the death of many souls;
3) ...the Southern states shall be divided against the Northern states, and the Southern states will call on other nations, even Great Britain, as it is called, and they shall also call upon other nations, in order to defend themselves against other nations; and then war shall be poured out upon all nations.
4) ...after many days, slaves shall rise up against their masters, who shall be marshaled and disciplined for war.
5) ...the remnants who are left of the land will marshal themselves, and shall become exceedingly angry, and shall vex the Gentiles with as sore vexation.
Mormon 5
18) But now, behold, they (the Lamanites) are led about by Satan, even as chaff is driven before the wind, or as a vessel is tossed about upon the waves, without sail or anchor, or without anything wherewith to steer her; and even as she is, so are they.
20) But behold, it shall come to pass that they (the Lamanites) shall be driven and scattered by the Gentiles, behold, then will the Lord remember the covenant which he made unto Abraham and unto all the house of Israel.
3 Nephi 16
10) ...At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fullness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations, and above all the people of the whole earth, and shall be filled with all manner of lyings, and of deceits, and of mischiefs, and all manner of hypocrisy, and murders, and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, and of secret combinations; and if they shall do all those things, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel,...I will bring the fulness of my gospel from among them.
11) And then will I remember me covenant which have made unto my people, O house of Israel,...
13) But if the Gentiles will repent and return unto me,...they shall be numbered among my people, O house of Israel.
14) And I will not suffer my people, who are of the house of Israel, to go through among them, and tread them down,...
15) But if they will not turn unto me, and hearken unto my voice,... I will suffer... my people,...that they shall go through among them, and shall tread them down,...
3 Nephi 20:
14) And the Father hath commanded me that I should give unto you this land, for your inheritance.
15) And I say unto you, that if the Gentiles do not repent after the blessing which they shall receive, after they have scattered my people-
16) Then shall ye, who are a remnant of the house of Jacob, go forth among them; and ye shall be in the midst of them who shall be many; and ye shall be among them as a lion among the beasts of the forest, and as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goeth through both treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
22) ...this people will I establish in this land, unto the fulfilling of the covenant which I made with your father Jacob; and it shall be a new Jerusalem.
3 Nephi 21:
4) For it is wisdom in the Father that they should be established in this land, and be set up as a free people by the power of the Father, that these things might come forth from them unto a remnant of your seed, that the covenant of the Father may be fulfilled which he hath covenanted with his people, O house of Israel.
12) And my people who are a remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles, yea, in the midst of them as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he go through both treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
13) Their hand shall be lifted up upon their adversaries, and all their enemies shall be cut off.
14) Yea, wo be unto the Gentiles except they repent; for it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Father, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots;
15) And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strongholds;
16) And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thy land, and thou shall have no more soothsayers;

19) And it shall come to pass that all thy lyings, and deceivings, and envyings, and strifes, and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, shall be done away.

2 Nephi 26:
14) But behold, I prophecy unto you concerning the last days;...
20) And the Gentiles are lifted up in the pride of their eyes, and have stumbled, because of the greatness of their stumbling block, that they have built up many churches; nevertheless, they put down the power and miracles of God, and preach up unto themselves their own wisdom and their own learning, that they may get gain and grind upon the face of the poor.
22) And there are also secret combinations, even as in times of old, according to the combinations of the devil,...
Ether 8:
22) And whatsoever nation shall uphold such secret combinations, to get power and gain, until they shall spread over the nation, behold, they shall be destroyed;...
23) Wherefore, O ye Gentiles, it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you, which are built up to get power and gain...
24) Wherefore, the Lord commandeth you, when ye shall see these things come among you that ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation, because of this secret combination which shall be among you;...
25) ...whoso buildith it up seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is build up by the devil,...
As recently as 1988, a Prophet, Ezra Taft Benson, told us: "I testify that wickedness is rapidly expanding in every segment of our society. It is more highly organized, more cleverly disguised, and more powerfully promoted than ever before. Secret combinations lusting for power, gain, and glory are flourishing. A secret combination that seeks to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries is increasing its evil influence and control over America and the entire world."
Revelation 13:
1, JST) And I saw another sign, in the likeness of the kingdoms of the earth; a beast rise up out of the sea, and he stood upon the sand of the sea, having seven heads...
2) ...and the dragon gave him power, and his seat, and great authority.
3) ...all the world wondered after the beast.
4) And they worshiped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him?

D&C 45
68)...every man that will not take up his sword against his neighbor must needs flee unto Zion for safety.
69) And there shall be gathered unto it out of every nation under heaven; and it shall be the only people that shall not be at war one with another.
70) And it shall be said among the wicked: Let us not go up to battle against Zion, for the inhabitants of Zion are terrible; wherefore we cannot stand.
71) ...the righteous shall be gathered out from among all nations, and shall come to Zion,...
We've passed Helaman 5... when they who choose wickeness are more numerous t han they who choose good.
When Alaska, California, Oregon and Washington are invaded by the Chineese you'll know we are in trouble.... that's when the boys in Zion will hold the line up in the mountains.
Journal of Discourses, Vol.21, p.8, John Taylor, August 31st, 1879 We have got this kingdom to build up; and it is not a phantom, but a reality. We have to do it, God expects it at our hands. We have got to have--now do not tell any body for it is a great secret; we have got to have political power. What, will not that be treason? Perhaps so, but no matter; we have got to go on and progress in these things. We have got to establish a government upon the principle of righteousness, justice, truth and equality and not according to the many false notions that exist among men. And then the day is not far distant when this nation will be shaken from centre to circumference. And now, you may write it down, any of you, and I will prophesy it in the name of God. And then will be fulfilled that prediction to be found in one of the revelations given through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Those who will not take up their sword to fight against their neighbor must needs flee to Zion for safety. And they will come, saying, we do not know anything of the principles of your religion, but we perceive that you are an honest community; you administer justice and righteousness, and we want to live with you and receive the protection of your laws, but as for your religion we will talk about that some other time. Will we protect such people? Yes, all honorable men. When the people shall have torn to shreds the Constitution of the United States the Elders of Israel will be found holding it up to the nations of the earth and proclaiming liberty and equal rights to all men, and extending the hand of fellowship to the oppressed of all nations. This is part of the programme, and as long as we do what is right and fear God, he will help us and stand by us under all circumstances.
Therefore, Latter-day Saints, fear God; work the works of righteousness; live your religion; keep the commandments and humble yourselves before him; be one, and be united with the holy priesthood and with each other, and I will tell you in the name of God that Zion will rise and shine and the power of God will rest upon her; and her glory will be made manifest, and we will rejoice in the fulness of the blessings of the Gospel of peace; and the work of God will go on and increase until the kingdoms of this world shall become the kingdoms of our God and his Christ, and every creature in the heaven and on the earth and under the earth will be heard to say, Blessing, and glory, and honor and praise and power, might and majesty and dominion be ascribed to him that sits upon the throne and to the Lamb for ever and ever. So, where exactly is this "line up in the mountains"? Are you saying that we would be better off behind those lines? And if so, how do you reconcile that with what President Boyd K. Packer said in the last General Conference:
"We face the challenge of raising families in the world in darkening clouds of wickedness. Some of our members are unsettled, and sometimes they wonder: Is there any place one can go to escape from it all? Is there another town or a state or a country where it is safe, where one can find refuge? The answer generally is no. The defense and the refuge is where our members now live."
I'm not trivializing your post....I seriously wonder if there is any where safe from a military conflict in the confines of the United States. I moved to south eastern Idaho the weekend that Hurricane Katrina hit and I felt a sense of physical safety, at least from that kind of disaster.
Obviously, the coastal states would be the first to feel the effects of a conventional foreign invader. If the central Rocky Mountain region, particualrly in Utah, is the safest spot from such potential military incursions, should I plan on moving into that region?
My personal opinion is that massive future terrorism will put our nation in its constitutional death throes, and that we will be removed from the equation in protecting Israel.
Is China be capable of a massive land invasion of western North America? I know they have massive numbers, but how long until they have the military resources to launch an extended amphibious assult?
A conventional land invasion/war would be a dissaster for any country. Just look at Iraq and Afghanastan. And some of those people actually want us there!!! Can you imagine a Chinese army trying to actually take ground along the western U.S. Heck, even the gang bangers would be shooting at them not to mention the armed populace. They would have to basically kill 90% of the population via nuclear strikes before they could even land and then they would have a radioactive wasteland to wade through. Good times!
With 2 billion people and literally MILLIONS of men, even if we kill two or even three of them for every one of us, they still win.... all they have to do is keep landing them here. And with the lack of women in China, they'll most likely just kill the men here.

How do they transport 2 billion people. We can produce the ammo faster than they can boat them over. Plus, the first wave we kill will probably be armed so we can strip them of their weapons and use them ourselves. Better than going to a gun shop!
