"We live in a time of war, that spiritual war that will never end. Moroni warned us that the secret combinations begun by Gadianton are had among all people. . . .Wherefore, O ye Gentiles [and the term gentile in that place in the Book of Mormon refers to us in our generation], it is wisdom in God that these things should be shown unto you, that thereby ye may repent of your sins, and suffer not that these murderous combinations shall get above you. . . .[Ether 8:20, 2324] (Boyd K. Packer, speaking in a 16 January 2007 BYU Devotional)
I am convinced that Obama is a puppet of what I call the latter-day gadiantons today. And I believe McCain, who has been one of our senators as long as he has been a senator, is every bit as much beholden to them as is Obama, and at least as evil.
There are a lot of LDSs who favour amnesty for illegals. Church leaders turn a blind eye to illegals in wards and stakes around here, and I'm aware of two elders sent out on missions who are here illegally, one in our stake and one who got caught while returning from his mission.

Any ideas on how to resurrect it? The problem is it needs traffic for people to come by, and I can't add it all myself, working overtime at work. Plus, I think I depressed people by reporting the bad news. But most of it is bad news, so it's hard to find good to report on.

First off, Arbi, I'm happy you are working overtime at work. That is usually a good sign. Better than being our of work. A member of our bishopric just had to tell a finance company to come pick up their Suburban. A family of 6 that I home taught had to walk away from their home and move in with parents in another state, with no immediate prospect of work.
The forum may not have recovered from the controversies of a year and more ago. Discussions of "bad news", and especially the reasons or causes for the "bad news", often bring out heated feelings and rudeness. Rather than dealing with divergent opinions and disharmony, it is usually easier to ignore the tough subjects in life. Personally, I find it hard to soft peddle certain tough truths, and consequently initiated discussions here that all too frequently led to mutual contempt and disrespect for each other. And that applies to not only discussion forums like this one. It can happen in SS classes.
The LDS faith has a grreat advantage in this world in which so much evil abounds. It affords multiple scriptures warning us to beware of powerful forces of evil. The Book of Mormon tells us generally what to expect, and the Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants give us general instructions on how to deal with the evil. But LDSs pretty much ignore these threats, partly, at least, because they have enough to deal with and do not want to feel obligated to do something about the threats. And prophets and apostles seem to be a lot more subtle and discrete in their warnings and advice than they were years ago.
Well, I am still looking for work and rarely have access to the internet. Nearly every time I get on I check this place out. I haven't been motivated enough to start anything.
That's be cool. If it was just me posting, that would be more similar to a blog, and I don't think that I'm interesting enough to keep people coming back for more.
