Rollover accident

I was in a bad rollover accident today. My car was totalled. I escaped with a few cuts and bruises. I only had a slight cut to my head. The cop who examined the accident scene says that it's a miracle that I'm still alive, much less escaped with only a few cuts and bruises.

Wow, Arbi, I'm glad you're okay. Sorry about the accident.

Well, the Lord was protecting me, that was for sure. And I was thinking about getting a more fuel efficient vehicle anyway.
Although the cop who came to the scene told me that I'd probably be dead if I wasn't in an SUV. Since it was an SUV that hit me, the size of my vehicle kept me from getting personally injured.
I'm thinking that it wasn't the SUV, that it was Heavenly Father. My car is bent like a giant baby got mad at it. All the windows are gone. The frame is bent six ways from Sunday. Everyone was amazed that I walked away from it.
There is definitely something to be said for wearing your garments and being worthy of them.

Yup, he was fine, other than the front end of his car being crushed.

BTW, I wanted to point out how important it is to listen to inspiration. My three year old had wanted to come on that car trip with me, and something told me then that it was a bad idea. He would have been sitting on the side that was hit, which would have been very, very bad.

BTW, Mirk, I wanted to ask:is it normal for all the emergency personnel to ask several times each if you were wearing your seatbelt? It seemed like the deputy who was passing by when it happened, the registered nurse who happened by, the firemen, the ambulance people, the cops who responded to the 911 call, all asked at least a couple of time each if I had been wearing my seatbelt. I think that things would have gone a lot worse for me if I wasn't. I'd rather have the big nasty bruise where the seatbelt held me in than the results I would have had if it hadn't. It just seems a bit odd that everyone asked so often.

If I am investigating the accident I will ask once as it goes into my report. EMS personnel will probably ask too. They might ask twice if the ambulance beats the fire guys since they are different agencies.

It was sobering when the firemen showed up hauling all sorts of gear that you use when you have to immobilize someone's spine and move them. They were expecting something far worse than what happened. I'm still grateful for the protections offered me.

I'm glad you walked away from it, Arbi. How scary! The Lord certainly does watch over us.

Praise the blessed Lord that you were preserved and that you knew that you should leave your boy at home.

Is the other party's insurance going to pay up? Sounds like your vehicle was not totalled, but demolished.

Of course he didn't. Man.

My parents were hit by a drunk driver. Landed upside down in a ditch (empty at the time) and had to be extracted out. Lots of lost work, permanent physical problems. The guy had no insurance and filed bankruptcy when they sued him. He barely got a slap on the wrist for drunk driving.

I remember being livid with my SIL and her husband when they were driving around with no insurance because they "couldn't afford it". Yet ate out, travelled, had more toys than we did, etc. I hate when the rest of us have to pay for others' irresponsibility and stupidity.

In my old ward someone was hit by a drunk driver. He was lucky; a light pole kept him from rolling over more than twice, and he recovered in a while. The driver who hit him died.

I've had a best friend and an uncle killed by drunk drivers, and a 10-year-old cousin was maimed. IMHO, the only good drunk driver is a dead one.

But I'm REALLY glad you're okay, arbi. I hope you're able to get something in court.

Glad you are ok Arbilad! In our stake, we've had a young teen in the hospital due to a horrible car accident, her friend in the car died. Luckily the girl who survived seems to be improving well. I hate the bad things that happen in car accidents, it is good to read of your story and to know of the tender mercies given to you!
