Yesterday one of my coworkers, with much glee, said that someone is offering to pay former boyfriends of Sarah Palin's one million dollars for nude pictures of her. Now, I don't know any more details than what he said. Apparently it's some porn magazine that's offering the reward. Of course this is downright despicable. But it got me thinking about other stuff, especially considering my coworkers statement that he would buy the magazine if one came out with compromising pictures of Palin. Obviously, Sarah Palin is not hard on the eyes. But I don't think that was the reason why my coworker was so eager to see such pictures. He hates all Republican office holders or candidates. He is a Barack Obama fan. I think that, for him, it is not an issue of titilation so much as control. He despises Palin, and he would feel some amount of power over her if he were able to view compromising pictures of her. In his mind, he would be able to demean her that way, and, by extension, dismiss her political philosophy and validate his own.

Palin has the same issue Dr. Laura has. When you take strong moral positions, people will claw over their own grandmothers to paint you as a vile evil hypocrite who doesn't practice what you preach.
It's the same issue we LDS folk have too.

It has hurt Dr. Laura that there are nude photos of her extant, but she is still able to do a lot of good. Of course, it would be even more damaging for a female Republican candidate. But the point is that I think that pornography is not just about titillation (although I think that that is an undeniable part of it). I think that it is about certain men wanting unrighteous dominion over women. If a woman appears in a pornographic picture, I think that, to a degree, the man viewing it feels that he controls her
