The whole "separation of church and state" thing is a crock. No such language exists in the constitution. The government is prohibited from establishing a state religion, and can't interfere with the free exercise of religion. Up until about 40 years ago you could freely pray in schools or have prayer as part of a school activity.

The phrase "separation of church and state" is in a letter written by Thomas Jefferson, and it didn't mean what these people think it means.

You keep using that phrase. I do not think it means what you think it means.

'In God We Trust' has become such a part of our culture that it now seems cliche. It is not preaching and does not attempt to establish religion. No one has ever been denied use of US currency because they didn't share the sentiment expressed on a dime.  It is a simple statement of fact that most in the United States trust in God, but makes no determination whether that trust is correctly placed.

As an aside, I might be willing to change the US currency to say "In Gold We Trust" if they would again back up the currency with gold. I am not sure if God is really going to keep the currency of a heathenistic, idolatrous, adulterous, greedy, covetous, and violent nation from failing.
