A car salesman friend of mine said that this new Jeep, which is coming out in 2009 or 2010 (he's in a position to know), might actually convince him to buy a hybrid. Mostly he's been critical of the concept. But the Jeep Renegade will get about 110 mpg by using a diesel hybrid engine. In theory, you could use bio-diesel for the motor, and save a lot on fuel. It's also a four wheel drive vehicle. Granted, it's only a two seater, so it's not a family car. But I can easily see commuting in it. I think I'll start saving up my shekels for a down payment in 2009 or 2010.
Now if only my friend will give me a discount on one when it comes out. From the specs of the car, it sounds like it won't be cheap.
