War with Iran

http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=9377

A US House of Representatives Resolution effectively requiring a naval blockade on Iran seems fast tracked for passage, gaining co-sponsors at a remarkable speed, but experts say the measures called for in the resolutions amount to an act of war.

H.CON.RES 362 calls on the president to stop all shipments of refined petroleum products from reaching Iran. It also "demands" that the President impose "stringent inspection requirements on all persons, vehicles, ships, planes, trains and cargo entering or departing Iran."

Analysts say that this would require a US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

Since its introduction three weeks ago, the resolution has attracted 146 cosponsors. Forty-three members added their names to the bill in the past two days.

In the Senate, a sister resolution S.RES 580 has gained co-sponsors with similar speed. The Senate measure was introduced by Indiana Democrat Evan Bayh on June 2. In little more than a weeks time, it has accrued 19 co-sponsors.

Since such a blockade would actually be an act of war, it will be interestni to see if Congress actually declares war.  --  Lundbęk

Interesting to me that it was introduced by a democrat. This could be serious eh?

I think that it is inevitable that Israel will soon be bombing Iran's nuclear sites.

We could be headed for Armageddon folks.

I think Israel is feeling some urgency to do something.  They can see the handwriting on the wall with Obama and they know he will not be as supportive if he were to be elected.

If Israel attacks Iran, wouldn“t Iran be in its rights to bomb Israel back? Don“t start nothin if you ain“t gonna finish it.

Given the pathetic state of the Iranian air force, most likely not.  Iran does have medium range missle capabilities, but then Israel actually has nukes, and SLCMs on subs.  Israel's air force has much better equipment, better trained pilots.

For all the bluster of the Muslims in the ME, no one but Syria wants a nuclear armed Iran, including Saudi Arabia for which Iran is a real threat.

If Israel attacks, you can bet the US will be in it, in fact that is most likely the only reason Israel has not attacked is because the US has not given it the green light.  Saudis and others would condemn any Israeli attack, but secretly be cheering.
