She got HOW much for a broken foot?

$6 million.

So, she's at this doctor's house for dinner. He gets a intoxicated, and knocks her down causing a broken foot and a rare complication happens, so somehow she's due six million dollars? There wouldn't have even been a lawsuit if the guy had been a construction worker or something less lucrative like that.

I can empathise with chronic pain, especially foot pain when trying to become a doctor. It would be next to impossible to complete medical school and a residency if you couldn't stand for very long. My back and feet ache thinking back on my surgery clerkship, and I am currently healthy.

If someone injured me so that I couldn't continue on in my career as an anesthesiologist, I would definately sue for economic damages, which would amount to the average yearly salary in a small city for the next 30-35 years, which would end up [in the millions of dollars, edited]. (A hint to the world, don't cause me any disability, because it will be very expensive for you)

However, this lady had a long way to go until she was actually a doctor. Had she actually been accepted to or completed medical school, then I could understand this. But, many people with aspirations to become a doctor give up, because it is a very hard task that drives many into depression and alcoholism. Doctors currently have the highest suicide rate among professionals (we finally beat out dentists).

There must be more to this story than meets the eye. Why was he standing on her and then falling into her? Since he was dating her mother, was there any malpractice going on?
