Does anyone else see a "perfect storm" situation in regards to the legalization of polygamy? California just legalized gay "marriage". It's hypocritical to say that a man can marry a man, but he can't marry several women. And we have the high profile case with the FLDS at the same time. If they're charged with bigamy, who else sees the case going to the Supreme Court and resulting in the legalization of polygamy, polyamory, or whatever? Mind you, I don't want to see polgamy legalized. It was correct for the church to do it when it did, and correct for the church to stop doing it when it did. But if polygamy is legalized now, in today's society that means that any group of men and women (3 men and 2 women, for instance) will be able to claim that they are "married". Or even someone and their pet. So I think that it's really likely that polygamy will not be legalized, but I really don't want to see it happen.

Polyamory is already legal, isn't it? So far as I know, polyamory doesn't imply polygamous marriages. The very word polyamory makes me make the yuck face. I've come across a few people practicing that lifestyle and was seriously not impressed with any of their morals or ethics. (Not just the stuff having to do with romantic relationships.)
I think that if this country makes same sex marriage legal, it's just a small step to legalizing polygamy. Once you change the fundamental meaning of marriage, it's not hard to do it again.

How would polygamy work when it comes to inheritances and taxes and stuff like that I wonder...? Freak, some dude could claim like 50 dependants on his health insurance and some women would feel a turn in the sac every couple weeks would be a small price to pay...
