As a parent who has used wikipedia for several years for kids reports I was disturbed to find this about thier site.


Wikipedia, the online "free encyclopedia" written and edited by its users that contains 9 million articles in 253 languages, now includes detailed photos sexually explicit images and content.

Good grief. I guess it's good that I know better than to type the word "penis" into a search engine. Makes one think twice about using Wiki, too.

My 11yo is working on her country report and apparently you can't google "lion sweden symbol" to find out what the lion symbolizes... eyepopping.gif

I use Wikipedia for some of my sons lessons, but I print out the material. As far as I know (and have been able to verify from looking at his browsing history) my son doesn't go to Wikipedia much.
