Someone has come up with a "teenager repellent". And no, it's not yard work.

Well, seeing as how it was posted on the second I doubt that it was an April Fool's prank. Whether it's true or not is another question.

But is it really possible that people under 30 have dog hearing and people over 30 don't? I've never heard that there is a physiological difference in hearing for people under 30. That's why I think it's a joke.
Does that mean that children can hear something that a 30 y/o can't? I would think it's the opposite--since kids tune out parents all the time.

If it is true, then this is my take on it; the under 30 crowd don't have hearing as good as a dog. But rather, over time, your hearing degrades and so sounds at the very edge of the human audible range can no longer be heard by you. Just as many people who once had good vision have to wear glasses as they get older, many people can't hear the whole range of sounds they used to be able to hear.

I read a couple of months ago about a cell phone ring that only people under 25 could hear. Supposedly it was popular in some high schools, and people where discussing if they should be banned.
C'mon, Ray, teens have been able to destroy their hearing for 30 years now thanks to the Walkman.
