Trucker strike?

What would happen if transport of goods happened, even for just 5 days?

It would bring our economy to a grinding halt. But I'm not worried about it yet. It could happen, but it hasn't yet; there have been several times that it has been threatened, but nothing happened. Plus, not too many truckers could miss the income for a week without going under.

They even said on Foxnews this morning that the industry experts say this has almost no chance of happening. I wish it would happen even if just for a day to signal our government flunkies that there is a problem.

Yeah, I think a day or two of this would really open up some eyes.

I heard on the radio this morning that it's really not likely because of two things. One, the truckers don't make very much money and many of them simply can't afford to take a day or two off because they won't be able to pay their own bills. Two, if someone parks their truck, someone else will be ready and willing to deliver it for an even lower price - there's fierce competition out there.

Self preservation over general welfare.  That's why nothing will happen.  Until there's no choice.

I heard on the radio today that all the truckers (at least here in Indiana) are driving no faster than 45 mph as a protest.  I'm not sure if that's just for this day, the lunch hour, or what.

Well, they'll get better mileage that way...

Maybe us commuters to work should go on strike to protest high gas prices, makes it difficult for us too, and maybe we could quit buying groceries due to increased costs, etc.

Come on.
