"The promptings of the Holy Ghost will always be sufficient for our needs if we keep to the covenant path. Our path is uphill most days, but the help we receive for the climb is literally divine." --Elaine S. Dalton
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen! - Samuel Adams
That is a pretty twisted emoticon. I kinda like it, but not enough to get Coco mad at me.

It's just that yesterday was the board mtg. for the therapeutic riding center that I'm on and we had to make a tough decision to put one of the horses down. He has asthma and he cannot work for the program any longer. We had to put emotions aside, however, and think in a business manner. We're not a horse rescue operation. He was a good boy - taking care of his riders. And the kids are always bummed when "their" horse dies. It'll cost us a couple hundred dollars for the humane shot and to get the body taken care of.
Cheerio, people!

Not to be crass or unfeeling, but there's at market for horse meat. Seems like you could have recouped your costs by selling it to an exporter. It was, afterall, a business decision.
Horses cannot be sold for the intent to slaughter in the US, they have to be taken across the border. And with the way these horses are treated the CEO, who had ridden this horse many times and bonded with it, would have nothing to do with that decision and wanted him put down in a humane, painless way. Even though it was a business decision, this "therapist" was more than just a piece of meat.
