Bear Stearns investors are apparently upset that a company that was recently selling for $50 a share was just bailed out by the Fed and bought by another bank for $2 a share.

I sometimes wish we could take the US's tradition of enriching of lousy departing CEO's, and the Japanese tradition of accepting blame and killing yourself, get rid of them both, and have something a bit more reasonable to take their place.

Frankly, I'm upset that Bear Stearns was bailed out by the Fed. Because that means that Bear Stearns was bailed out by ME. And YOU. And our children forevermore.
Is the Fed deliberately trying to devalue the Dollar? And how does it decide what institutions deserve bailing and which don't? Congress is discussing bailing out homeowner's who can't keep up with their stupid ARMs.
My, I'm the judgy-judge today. I think I'll go buy some more rice and beans.

I agree, bok. I'm sitting with you on the judgement seat today.

Yes, hiding consequences of actions just sets you up for worse consequences later. BTW, on a related note, McCain was one of those who pushed through the rescue of the Savings and Loan industry in the Keating scandal.
